School Swimming Program

Next week sees that start of our swimming program.
During week 10 (23rd - 27th June) our Foundation to Year 3 students will be swimming every day.
Swimming is an important component of the SKiPPS Physical Education Program and a key learning focus of the Victorian Curriculum.
As in previous years, students will travel to MSAC (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre) for their swimming program. All sessions will be conducted by trained instructors.
The lessons will be 45 minutes long. Students will come to school as normal on these days and travel to and from MSAC by coach.
Swimming lesson times each day will be as follows;
- Foundation classes - lesson time 11:15am
- Year 1 classes - lesson time 12:15pm
- Year 2 classes - lesson time 1:00pm
- Year 3 classes- lesson time 10:30am
Students will need;
- labelled bathers,
- towel,
- goggles
- an orange swim cap (available from the office for $3 - coins preferred), in a small bag.
Our Year 4-6 students will take part in swimming the following week (30th June - 4th July).
Swimming Volunteers Needed
To ensure that we uphold the Child Safe Standards, all adults attending to support with changing must hold a Working With Childrens' (WWC) Check and this must have been provided to the school office in advance.
To support our teachers to manage this requirement, we ask all adults to indicate in advance that they are attending. This will allow us to check in advance that we have a copy of your WWC card and it will avoid any difficult conversations at the pool.
Please do this by completing the short online form at
Any adults attending the pool who have not completed this form and provided us with a copy of your WWC card will not be permitted to enter the changing rooms.
WWC Volunteer checks are free and can be applied for online at https://service.vic.gov.au/services/working-with-children
Cards can be brought into the office and Wendy will take a copy and add you to our register. Alternatively, they can be scanned or photographed (on both sides) and emailed to st.kilda.park.ps@education.vic.gov.au
