A message from the Principal

Over the coming months, St Kilda Park Primary School will be taking part in a School Review - a key milestone in our school improvement journey and an exciting opportunity for us to reflect, learn and plan for the future together.
What is a School Review?
All government schools in Victoria participate in a review every four years. The process helps us reflect on how we are supporting student learning, wellbeing and engagement, and assess how effectively our resources, policies and practices are supporting our goals. It brings an independent lens to our self-reflection and guides us to set clear, evidence-informed priorities for the next four years.
The review is not just about looking back - it’s also about building forward. It helps ensure our planning and decision-making are aligned with what matters most: great teaching and learning, a strong and inclusive school culture, and the best outcomes for every student.
When is the Review Happening?
Our School Review will take place over three days next term:
- Monday 20 October
- Tuesday 28 October
- Thursday 6 November
Each day will involve a combination of classroom visits, discussions with students, staff and families, and reflection with the review panel, which includes a trained reviewer, a senior education improvement leader and external challenge partners.
What’s Happening Now?
We are currently in the Pre-Review Self-Evaluation (PRSE) phase - a deep dive into our school data, practices, and community feedback. This Wednesday, our School Council will be discussing the draft PRSE and helping to shape how we gather further input from students, families and staff. Your voice is vital in this process.
We’ll be inviting families to contribute through:
- Parent focus groups led by members of the review panel
- Surveys and feedback forms
- Conversations and forums held throughout Term 3
What Happens After the Review?
The review findings will directly inform our new School Strategic Plan, which sets the direction and goals for the next four years. Once the review is complete, we will share key insights and next steps with the school community.
This is a genuine opportunity to shape our future, and we’re thrilled to be engaging in such a purposeful and collaborative process. We’re proud of the strong foundation we’ve built at SKiPPS and look forward to working with all of you to continue improving and growing together.
Warm regards,
Neil Scott
