Year 9 Morrisby Profiling
Year 9s have been busy completing and unpacking their Morrisby Profiling, with many delighted by the outcomes and invested in further exploring their profiling results. The Morrisby Profiling is an in-depth algorithm that creates accurate and detailed results for each student providing a career assessment and guidance system designed to help individuals understand their strengths, interests, and personality preferences to make informed decisions about their education and career paths. Students and parents can log on to the profiles at any time and see results. The account is user friendly and easy to navigate.
Further information about the Morrisby Profile Assessment can be found at: https://www.morrisby.com/
Students who completed the assessment and counselling in previous years can continue to access their results and the resources available. For those who may have forgotten email and password login details, Mrs. Berzins is able to make access available once more.
Year 11 2025 VCE and Careers Expo
Earlier this term, our Year 11 VCE students attended the VCE and Careers Expo at Melbourne Exhibition Centre to gain valuable access to resources and study advice related to future pathways. Students travelled to the event accompanied by Senior School staff and VCE PC teachers. As part of the event, students completed careers research, attended a seminar and sought advice about VCE study related issues. The Careers Expo was an amazing day out for our Year 11 VCE students. All the top universities were represented, and many of our students were provided with lots of important freebies to take home. Our students represented the school beautifully and we were incredibly proud.
Year 9 and 10 Harvester Taster Day
On Thursday 15th May Ms Harris and Mrs Berzins took a group of Year 9s and 10s to Harvester Technical College in Sunshine to tour the campus and try their hand at some of their ‘Tech 10’ activities. These included: stamping dog tags, drilling screws, and separating and learning about the wires in Electrical Wire. Trudy Whiteside, the Principal at Harvester was very welcoming and informative. We all really enjoyed our visit. If you would like further information on Harvester, you can contact the Careers office at Sunbury College or Harvester directly.
Work Experience
Thank you to Ms Emily Tam who worked tirelessly to organise and support our Year 10s with Work Experience placements this term. Thank you too to the students and their families for their support and organisation during the process; we are really proud of the success in placing our students and the efforts from all involved. Work Experience is an invaluable opportunity for students to see and experience the workforce in a range of jobs and professions.
This year, students completed placements: with Victoria Police; in local childcare centres and primary schools across Sunbury; at Dorevitch Pathology and other medical research facilities; with hairdressers; and in various trades and on farms. By experiencing the reality of the workforce and routines of working, students were able to learn the necessary skills in various fields. We hope all students enjoyed their placements and got the rich experience that the program provides. A big thank you to all the teachers that made visits to students at their workplaces as well.
Careers Counselling
The Careers Team continues to meet with students daily with one-on-one counselling in careers, pathways and Vocational Education and Training. The team works with students to look at everything from TAFE certificates; universities, ATAR requirements, their prerequisites and specialised testing; to specialised gap year opportunities. For students in Years 8 to 10, subject fairs have been completed, and as we approach subject selection days in Term 3, we continue to talk about pathways and opportunities.
The Careers Team is currently working towards preparing Year 12s for VTAC applications, USIs (Unique Student Identifiers) and early entry applications.
Should you have any queries related to careers or pathways, please contact Careers Leader Mrs. Brie Berzins on 9744 1066 at the College.
