Our Assistant Principals reflect on Term Two
Assistant Principals’ Report
As Term 2 draws to a close, we’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate our students’ achievements over the last eleven weeks. From the Athletics Carnival at the very start of the term, to the Year 11 Formal last week, Term 2’s events have been many and varied, and our students continue to represent Sunbury College with pride.
We wish all students and their families the very best over the upcoming school holidays, and look forward to Term 3 which begins Monday 21st July.
Professional Learning for Staff
On Thursday 12th June, Sunbury College teaching staff were visited by educational consultant, Glen Pearsall, author of several best selling pedagogical books. Glen provided professional learning to teaching staff on positive classrooms which is linked to our College wide SWPBS practices. It was a great afternoon of new learning, and revisiting prior learning, in this space.
Glen will continue this work with our staff on Wednesday 6th August as part of our Curriculum Day for Term 3.
Work Experience
A highlight of the past few weeks was the Yr 10 Work Experience program. Over 160 students were placed successfully with employers, and all have returned to school excited and enthused by the opportunities provided to them during their placements. Thank you to Emily Tam for her leadership of the program, and to Brie Berzins and the Careers Team for their work in supporting students to secure placements, and complete their Occupational Health and Safety modules. We’d also like to thank and acknowledge all the staff who visited students at their workplace and provided feedback on their experiences. The strength of our work experience program is down to the time and effort invested in it by our staff.
Semester Exams
Congratulations to Year 10 and Year 11 students who have recently concluded their mid-year exams. It was pleasing to see the level of focus, organisation, and determination of the students, shown in their revision and study efforts. These assessments provide a valuable opportunity for students to consolidate their learning and demonstrate their understanding. We commend all Year 10 and Year 11 students for their commitment and encourage them to continue striving for their personal best.
VCE VM Parent Information Evening and Yr 10 Course Counselling
We’d like to thank and acknowledge all the Yr 10 students and their families for their attendance at the VCE VM Information evening held on Wednesday 2nd July, and the course counselling interviews on Thursday 3rd July. Making informed decisions about subjects and future pathways is an important part of the careers journey for our Year 10 students and this does not happen without the support from families, the careers team, and the Middle and Senior Sub School teams.
Sunbury College Uniform
At Sunbury College, we take great pleasure from the way our students present themselves. Wearing the College uniform correctly is not just about meeting expectations – it reflects our shared identity, and supports a strong sense of belonging, unity and equality, whilst helping to maintain a focused learning environment
We remind families that students must wear either the full academic uniform or the Physical Education (PE) - mixing elements of both uniforms is not permitted. Students should only wear the PE uniform on the days they have scheduled PE or Sport classes.

Upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews
We would also like to remind families that Parent Teacher Interviews for Year 10 core subjects and all VCE and VCE VM subjects will be held on Tuesday 29 July. This is a valuable opportunity to discuss student progress, celebrate achievements, and identify areas for improvement. We strongly encourage all families to book interviews and engage in these important conversations that support student success in the senior years.
