Junior School Update

CERES Excursion
Thank you to our amazing Year One and Two teachers, Ms Huebner, Miss Martin, Miss Clerehan, Miss Campbell along with Mr Butler and Miss Briely for braving the weather at CERES School of Nature and Climate on Wednesday. Thank you also to our parent helpers Sami, Laura, Jess, Jelena and Caz who offered up their time to head off on this very wet and muddy adventure. Thank you to all of our Year One and Two parents who ensured their children were rugged up and prepared for the day.
I couldn't believe how much it rained! I think we had a ten minute pause throughout the whole day! At the end of the day I heard one of our Year Twos state 'That was the best day of my life!’ The rain certainly did not stop our students from having fun!
These days are so important to our students, both to supplement their learning in the classroom and also for resilience building and wellbeing.
Thank you also to Mrs Smith, Ms Jackson and Miss Stacey for taking on extra duties to cover staff who attended the excursion.
Some highlights from the students:
YEAR ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Grace 1C “trying the plants”
- Victoria 1C “walking by the creek”
- Frankie 1C “playing the ball game”
- Irene 1C “Eating salty leaves”
- Mia 1MD “performing story as a kangaroo”
- Max 1MD “ getting muddy”
YEAR TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Bush Food Tasting: Our Year 2s had a fantastic experience tasting Aboriginal bush foods at CERES this week! The lilly pilly berries and saltbush were a big hit — lots of curious taste testers and thoughtful discussions about traditional food and culture. What a delicious way to connect with learning!
- Acting out the story of Jiddalek was an enjoyable experience to understand how stories have been passed down for thousands of years.
Enjoy the photos!
ART FILING
Thank you to Sami, Jackson’s mum for giving up your morning on Monday to help me file art work. You saved me hours of work and it was lovely to chat with you.
