Christian Formation

Reflection from the Chaplain
Well, what an amazing term it has been.
Coming in fresh to the chaplaincy role in the last week of Term 2, I very quickly began to learn the rhythms of student life at PVCC, but more than that, I started to see the evidence of a beautiful school that desires to put Christ at the centre of everything it does.
Plenty Valley Christian College is so rich with Christian faith and culture – from Praise Pals for our precious Early Years kids, run by some of our amazing Early Years staff, to the wonderful parent led prayer group that regularly meets to lift up the college to God, to delivering parent funded Bibles to Yr 3’s, Yr 7’s and any new students in between, to the senior student run worship night initiative, to the discussion groups and Bible studies that run during student’s own free time – there is so much evidence of God fearing and God loving Christian’s that desire to see this next generation won for Jesus.
I’ve had the pleasure of joining in with these various events and activities, with the aim to co-labour, disciple, encourage and edify our faith community, be they student, staff or parent. It’s been such a privilege to come alongside and partner with our Director of Christian Formation Craig Ogden, who has been a wonderful help and mentor as I’ve come into this chaplaincy role, hitting the ground running.
As we close another busy term, I’m praying for, and ask for your prayers, that God would continue to bring vision and strategy to what He wants to do in this college. He is working and the fruit is sprouting – may He bring the harvest!

Vanuatu Missions Trip
On Sunday morning, the Vanuatu missions team met early at the airport to depart for Vanuatu. What a fantastic opportunity for the Year 10s attending to experience a different culture, and make a difference in the lives of the communities they go into, through teaching and engagement of various primary school students.
Led by staff members Craig Ogden, Janet Hopkins, and Sherydan Fitzgerald, we pray for both safety over all and that they would be led by the Spirit’s enabling power and grace.
We can’t wait to hear the testimonies to come.
After just a few days in Vanuatu the students are settling in very well at the Victory School of Hope in Black Sands. The students enjoyed a lovely welcome by a few representatives from the school upon arrival at the airport, as well as a swim on a local beach on their first day there.
Students have now begun teaching in the classrooms, getting to know the students and enjoying playing games in the school yard. Please continue to keep them in your prayers, that their work there will be encouraging to all at the school and impactful to the community.
Gravitate Outreach Training Camp
Wow! How awesome it is to see a huge group of young people praising God in song and eager to learn so much more about Him. That’s what happened at the second of two camps for Gravitate – the Certificate III in Christian Ministry and Theology VET course run here at PVCC.
Eight students who have chosen the course this year all attended the camp and appreciated the message about sharing the gospel – that we all have something to say, as well as worshipping and fellowshipping together with students from 13 other schools.
Friday to Sunday, the camp was jam-packed with meaningful learning, music and activity – so much fun!
Many thanks to Isaac Addison and Karen Roberts for joining the class for the trip to Phillip Island Adventure Camp, what an awesome and God-centred adventure we had!
