From Principal Steve - Student Performance Summary

Dear Parents and Carers,

Since 2020, Brighton Primary School has worked diligently to enhance our curriculum, teaching, and learning. By 2023, our school is achieving above grade level in all learning areas for grades 3 and 5 on the NAPLAN Assessment, outperforming All State, Network, and Similar Schools.

The attached School Performance Summary, part of our 2023 Annual Report, highlights how Brighton Primary School is also meeting the objectives of the Education Department and compares our performance with other Victorian government schools. The entire 2023 Annual Report is available on our new school website.

We continually strive to enhance the learning for all our students, as well as improve our facilities and grounds. While the Department of Education funds a standard educational program, many of the exceptional programs and resources at Brighton Primary School exceed this funding. On 25th February 2024, Federal Education Minister Jason Clare acknowledged that 'government public schools are not fully funded.'

We rely on the financial support of families to help us improve our school. I extend my gratitude to those who have already paid the parent payment fee for 2024. Last year, 66% of families made this payment, which is lower than the 85-95% seen in nearby government schools.

We understand that some families may face financial difficulties and offer several support options, including:

  • The Camps, Sports, and Excursions Fund
  • The school’s second-hand uniform shop
  • State Schools Relief Fund (SSRF)

For a confidential discussion about accessing these services or to discuss alternative payment arrangements, please contact our business manager, Diane O’Connor, at Phone: 03 9592 0177 or email: diane.oconnor@education.vic.gov.au

Thank you in advance for any financial assistance you can provide to support students and their learning at Brighton Primary School.

Kind regards,

Steve
