Lunch Time Clubs
OLHC Lunchtime Clubs
At Our Lady Help of Christians (OLHC), we're always looking for innovative ways to enrich the school environment and provide inclusive opportunities for every student.
Recognising that not all children enjoy the hustle and bustle of physical play, we have initiated a series of lunchtime clubs. These clubs are not only designed for students who may prefer less physically demanding activities, but also for those looking to explore new interests and build friendships across different grades and genders.
The introduction of these clubs at OLHC serves multiple purposes. Primarily, they offer safe, nurturing spaces where students can truly express themselves and explore personal interests in a structured environment. This initiative caters to our students’ diverse preferences and talents, promoting a more inclusive atmosphere that acknowledges and respects individual differences.
Moreover, these clubs provide a gentle refuge for students navigating the complex dynamics of school friendships. In moments of social misunderstandings or disputes, clubs offer a neutral ground where students can step away from stressful situations, engage in a positive activity, and potentially form new friendships with peers they might not interact with during class. This approach helps students develop conflict resolution skills in an indirect but effective manner, promoting emotional resilience.
Currently, our cooking club has received overwhelming interest and has become a favorite among many students. The success of this club has encouraged us to look into expanding our offerings to accommodate more enthusiastic participants. We are also proud to feature a gardening club, where students can connect with nature and learn about sustainability; a singing club, which allows students to explore their musical talents; and an arts and crafts club, perfect for those who wish to express their creativity.
Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce a Lego club, which promises to be an excellent addition for fostering creativity and problem-solving skills. Through these clubs, students not only find new hobbies but are also able to mingle and collaborate with a diverse group of peers, thus enhancing their social skills and cultural understanding.
These lunchtime clubs at OLHC are more than just extracurricular activities—they are vital components of our school’s commitment to holistic education, where every student is given the chance to thrive in a supportive and multifaceted learning environment. We look forward to seeing our students grow and flourish as they take advantage of these wonderful opportunities.
