Good Luck Kirsty!

This week we farewell Kirsty who as we know is off on family leave. Kirsty is such a big part of the Scotsburn family, and I know she will be missed whilst on leave. We wish Kirsty, Stuart and little Elsie all the best from the Scotsburn community as they welcome their new arrival into the world.

Early this week we are interviewing for Kirsty’s two days at Scotsburn in SC1, and we look forward to a new member of staff joining us in the coming weeks!

Whole School Assembly Specialist Bunjil Award Winners

A huge congratulations to Zoe, Annie, Darragh, Amity, Maverick, Will S, Albus and Flynn for receiving Specialist subject Bunjil Awards at last week’s whole school assembly. You have all been doing a brilliant job in specialist classes with Ms Middlin and Mrs Morgan. Well done!

Reconciliation Week and “Wear it Yellow” Day

Similar to the Buninyong campus, this week we will be holding lots of activities and workshops to recognise Reconciliation Week. To kick off the week on Monday, and as part of our Respectful Relationships program, the campus discussed the significance of “Wear it Yellow” Day, including acknowledging our country’s indigenous identity and the traditional owners of the land. We will also be spending time this week looking at the themes of equal opportunity and valuing diversity and everyone’s strengths as individuals.

We have been very lucky to have the Pettiford family share some of their traditional items, including clapping sticks and didgeridoos. Thanks so much Zoe and Bec!

Curriculum Day this Thursday

Just a quick reminder that this Thursday (30th May) will be a curriculum day for students. This day will be used for teachers to put the finishing touches on collating and triangulation data and writing student reports. As staff, this is such a positive day, as we have the opportunity to reflect on all of the amazing achievements that our students have been able to make in the first half of the year.

Parent Community Road Safety Meeting

Our Parent Community Road Safety meeting is now only a week away. As we have mentioned, we would love as many members of our parent community to be present. If you are unable to make it please email any concerns or comments regarding road safety around the campus to Jarrod prior to the meeting.

We will aim to hold a short catch up prior to the meeting, so that we can all be on the same page and present a united stance. This will most likely be straight after school next Thursday. This will be confirmed in next week’s newsletter.

What: Scotsburn Road Safety Meeting

When: Friday, 7th June

Time: 9:30am - 10am

Where: Scotsburn Campus - outside campus in front of the main gate.

A massive thank you to those parents who have raised concerns and continually have the safety of our families and community at heart. Let’s hope for a positive result from this meeting.

A reminder that Scotsburn’s Parent Social Dinner is next week! It would be great to have as many parents in attendance as possible to make it a great social event. If you are yet to RSVP and would like to attend, please click on the link below:

SC1 Learning Snapshot

Where is Term 2 going? With 4 weeks until the end of term break, SC1 has continued soldiering on, completing some brilliant writing pieces and as always, enjoying each other's friendship and spending time together. In Maths, students have demonstrated a great understanding of place value and using this information to transfer into other areas, such as skip counting.

This week we say goodbye to Mrs. Robinson as she takes maternity leave. We wish Mrs. Robinson, Stuart, and little Elsie all the best in the upcoming arrival of their new baby and sibling. We will wait with anticipation for the arrival. I know the students are very excited to see if it is a boy or a girl! We will keep you posted on who will be covering Kirsty’s two days a week in the classroom in the upcoming days.

Next week, and part of week 9, I will be taking some Long Service Leave to go on a holiday with my family. We are hoping to defrost and enjoy some fun in the sun.

As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Ana

SC2 Learning Snapshot

We are certainly managing to fit lots in each and every week at the moment! Last week it was wonderful to join in with National Simultaneous Storytime, listening to a live read of the book “Bowerbird Blues” by Aura Parker. The story has some wonderful themes that link beautifully at the campus, including sustainability, love and friendship. SC2 students made some beautiful Bowerbird bookmarks to use as part of the session.

Lots of SC2 students yesterday brought home their published Information Reports about their chosen space topic. It was amazing to see these come together, celebrating the dedication and persistence with the writing process. All students were so proud of what they had achieved with these. As part of the celebration, SC2 students had the opportunity to read and discuss their reports with SC12 students. Well done everyone!

In Maths this week, we have begun looking at Time, including analogue clocks, 24 hour time and elapsed time. This has been a challenge for some students, however they are all embracing it and understand the value of this very important life skill. Within our Maths sessions, we are also continuing to embed our daily review sessions, maintaining a strong focus on basic number facts. It has been so pleasing to see the development in all students' skills in use of place value, times tables and number identification. Let’s all keep up the great work in this area!

Have another amazing week,

Jarrod and Liz

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
