Visual Arts

Students in 5/6 have begun the Artist in Residence (AiR) program! We are very lucky to have two Indigenous artists working with our 5/6 cohort on a mural.

The program will continue into next term.

When students were not working on the mural, they were working on a collage task that had the option of incorporating Indigenous papers.

Firstly we looked at how art can be used as a vehicle for storytelling and the students chose a place, story or event that was important to them.

They then chose from a variety of different papers which they used to create collage that tells their story.

Students in 3/4 have continued to work on papercraft, and have also used the changing season as inspiration to make spring flowers.

For the last few sessions the students have used a variety of techniques to manipulate paper including slicing, flanging and cutting on the fold.

Students in 1/2 have also been working on their papercraft skills.

Last week we looked at have more than one line of symmetry and how this could be used to add scales/ gills/ fins to another fish.

The fish were then glued onto a background and some stampers used for bubbles.

Students in Foundation have been looking at how to fold paper in different ways to create different effects. Last week they completed a fan/ concertina fold and turned it into a fish. These artworks went home, but her is an idea of what they created…
