Classroom News
PREP
We are almost at the end of the term.
We have been busy getting organised for the Art exhibition next Tuesday. Open classrooms for this will occur between 5.30-6:30 at St Mary’s School - you are then invited to walk down to St Andrew’s Hall for the Year 5’s performance and animation which will commence at 7pm. They have been working on this with Barking Spider all term. We can’t wait to see as many families as possible to support them and their hard work.
Swimming has finished and we wanted to say a big thank you to all the parents who came to watch and help us with changing. Massive team effort and we couldn’t do it without you all.
Reminder to please bring hats as we are now required to wear these. We ask that all hats are clearly labelled.
This week and next week we are reviewing our Little Learners Love Literacy learning so far. We are encouraging students to go over their sounds, common heart words, sentences and any readers sent home.
We concluded our sharing unit for numeracy by listening to the book “the doorbell rang” and getting to share our real cookies. We even got to eat them after, how lucky are we?
This week and next week we are learning about transformation. This is all about position, movement and directions.
We have been doing this by doing drawings, movement activities and obstacle courses.
In GEM time we have been talking about the environment and ways we can take care of it. This correlates with our RE learning of Noah’s Ark.
Next Friday is our last day of the term. Please wear footy colours - AFL, soccer or local footy colours. A fun food snack will be supplied but we still ask you pack a normal lunch box. School will finish at 2:15pm.
The Prep team wishes you a lovely and safe holidays. We can’t wait to see you back on the 2nd of October.

Wow what a busy couple of weeks we have had, with the excitement continuing into next week. This week in Year 3/4 we have been very busy finalising our First Contacts Inquiry work. The children are excited to share their learning during our Art Expo which is taking place next Tuesday evening at 5:30pm. Our work will be displayed in the Year 3 classroom. We look forward to seeing our families there! Last Thursday we were treated to a visit from Renee Garing who is a Geelong AFLW player. Renee taught us all the ways to be a Healthy Hero. GRADE 5/6
Can you believe we are on the home stretch of Term 3? Thank you to all the parents and relatives that attended our Amazing Race last Friday. It was a great turnout and the kids had an absolute blast. You could see the joy and excitement, and maybe some competitiveness in the faces of everyone.
This week Grade 5s are starting Angles in Maths and continuing to work on Poetry in Literacy. Grade 6s are finishing angles at the end of this week and beginning a text based unit on the ‘The Lost Thing’ by Shaun Tan.
The Social Justice team has done a great job organising the book swap to support the Indigenous Literacy Fund. This is taking place today during class time for students and 3:30pm for any families that want to attend. Hopefully you have seen the DOJO and Facebook posts for these details.
This Friday is our final winter sport against Elliminyt, hopefully the weather is kind to us.
Next week is a busy week for everyone.
The ‘Old Lens New Light’ Expo is on Tuesday 12th. It would be great to get as many people to attend as possible, lots of hard work has gone into the exhibition. Grade 5 parents should have a note home by now with more details on what is required of their children.
St Mary's Got Talent is on Thursday 14th at 12 noon on the courts if any parents/relatives would like to attend.
Our Jump Off for Jump Rope for Heart is on Friday 15th and students are invited to wear footy colours to celebrate footy finals.
Date to remember for Grade 6 parents: Welcome BBQ at Trinity 9th of November at 5:30pm.
On behalf of the 5/6 team we hope you all enjoy your Term 3 holidays. If anyone is heading towards the sun, please bring it back with you. Rachel is leaving us for Term 4 to head up North on a fabulous trip with her family. We hope she has an incredible time and doesn’t miss us too much :)
