Confirmation - October 10th, 2023

Confirmation is a sacred sacrament in the Catholic Church, where believers receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It typically occurs during Year Six, it is the final Sacrament of Initiation.

During the Confirmation ceremony, Bishop Tomlinson lays hands on the candidate's head and anoints their forehead with holy chrism oil, saying, "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit." This act signifies the strengthening and deepening of one's faith.

Confirmation is seen as a personal commitment to the Catholic faith, empowering our Year Six students to live their lives in accordance with Christian principles. It equips them with the spiritual gifts of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord, enabling them to grow as active members of the Church.

For those unfamiliar with the Catholic faith, Confirmation is akin to a spiritual coming-of-age, where individuals affirm their faith, receive the Holy Spirit's guidance, and take on greater responsibility within the Church community, further solidifying their connection to God and the Catholic tradition.
