Week 9, Term 3

Performing Arts

Prep

Students will continue to learn their songs and begin to learn their lines for the Prep Concert 'Sky Colour'. 

 

Grade 1 and 2

Students will continue to explore the concept of role and situation through the study of Australian animals. They will research their allocated animal and use these movements as inspiration for their performance.  

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students will continue their musical theatre focus working in small groups to stage 'It's the Hard Knock Life' from Annie for a class performance.

 

Grade 5 and 6

Students will continue to create a scripted drama scene, devised from a chosen prompt in small groups for a class performance. 

 

Physical Education

 

Prep PE

This week, students will enjoy a selection of collaborative games, with the aim of reviewing several of the key fundamental movement skills taught throughout the term. They will be encouraged to consider strategies required to work successfully as a team.

 

Prep Sensory

In this week’s Sensory Gym sessions, students will enjoy a selection of activities and exercises designed to improve their balance, core strength and hand-eye coordination.

 

Grade 1 and 2

This week, students will enjoy a selection of collaborative games, with the aim of reviewing several of the key fundamental movement skills taught throughout the term. They will be encouraged to consider strategies required to work successfully as a team, such as moving into space and using a clear voice.

 

Grade 3 and 4

We will begin a focus on the sport of touch rugby this week. Students will be exposed to the key skills required for the game, including running, dodging, flick passing and kicking. 

 

Grade 5 and 6

We will focus on the sport of touch rugby. Students will revise the key skills of running, dodging, flick passing and kicking. They will be encouraged to reflect on how they can be an effective team member, especially when they do not have possession of the ball.

Maker Space

Grade 1 and 2  

Welcome to the Maker Space games. Small groups will create different challenges for their class members. Our first activity is to create some medals to award successful participants in our challenge. We will complete and then compete in the games next week. 

 

Grade 3 to 6 

Our sewing project was cancelled due to the art program covering sewing with students in term 3 and continued in term 4. Students have instead built trophies, with sustainably sourced materials, that will be awarded in this week’s Maker Space Games. Students are creating challenges of skill and smarts to test their peers. The winner in each challenge will be awarded that group’s trophy to celebrate. 

Visual Arts

Prep

This week the students will create printed symmetrical butterfly wings from folded paper and paint, looking at primary and secondary colours. They will also learn about 'Dot Day' inspired by the book 'The Dot' and create a concentric circle painting.

 

Grade 1

This week students read the book 'The Dot' and learn more about 'Dot Day' which we celebrate this week. They will create concentric circle painting using paint sticks, focussing on following lines and complementary colours. This will then be cut into quarters and put together with a friend's painted pieces, then finally collated as a class for a patchwork of colour and dots!

 

Grade 2

This week students read the book 'The Dot' and learn more about 'Dot Day' which we celebrate this week. They will create a paper collage of dots using painted and plain paper in different sizes, focussing on composition and colour.

 

Grade 3 and 4

This week students will be immersed in a ‘Paper Sculpture Challenge’. They will be inspired by three different artists, and respond to their work with their own creation made out of paper, using 3D techniques such as curling, folding and twisting to create their sculpture. 

 

Grade 5 

Students are continuing to work on their ‘Buddy Bear’, adding details such as buttons for eyes, felt paws, ears and thinking about what accessories and/or clothes they could add to bring their bear to life and give it character.

 

Grade 6

Students are continuing to focus on street art and will finalise their name in graffiti font, including pop art details ready to transfer onto the paddle pop stick fence that they made last week. 

 

Auslan

 

Prep

Prep students will revise the song 'Old MacDonald' and play various games to consolidate their learning of animal signs in Auslan. 

 

Grade 1 and 2

Grade 1 and 2 students will consolidate their learning of animal signs in Auslan through playing various card games and completing a colouring activity. 

 

Grade 3 and 4

Grade 3 and 4 students will finish editing their video of them signing a short description of their friend or family member and then upload the video to Showbie.

 

Grade 5 and 6

Grade 5 and 6 students will finish creating and editing their instructional video of past and future signs in Auslan and then upload the final video to Showbie.
