New Synthi Grass

Wow! What a difference the new synthi grass has made to the space between the BER building and the portables.

This space was created when the old portables were removed at the end of 2025. This has created another outdoor space for our students to use. Students are delighted at the transition of the area and can be seen playing and rolling on the grassy surface.

Statement of Commitment to Child Safety (extract from our School Child Safety Policy)

Greenvale Primary School is a child safe organisation which welcomes all children, young people and their families.

  • We are committed to providing environments where our students are safe and feel safe, where their participation is valued, their views respected, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives. Our child safe policies, strategies and practices are inclusive of the needs of all children and students.

  • We have no tolerance for child abuse and take proactive steps to identify and manage any risks of harm to students in our school environments.

  • We promote positive relationships between students and adults and between students and their peers. These relationships are based on trust and respect.

  • We take proactive steps to identify and manage any risk of harm to students in our school environment. When child safety concerns are raised or identified, we treat these seriously and respond promptly and thoroughly.

  • Particular attention is given to the child safety needs of Aboriginal students, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, international students, students with disabilities, those unable to live at home, children and young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer, questioning and asexual (LGBTIQA+) and other students experiencing risk or vulnerability. Inappropriate or harmful behaviour targeting students based on these or other characteristics, such as racism or homophobia, are not tolerated at our school, and any instances identified will be addressed with appropriate consequences.

  • Child safety is a shared responsibility. Every person involved in our school has an important role in promoting child safety and wellbeing and promptly raising any issues or concerns about a child’s safety.

  • We are committed to regularly reviewing our child safe practices, and seeking input from our students, families, staff, and volunteers to inform our ongoing strategies.

Meet and Greet - Parents in Partnership

It was fabulous to see all the families who attended our Meet & Greet sessions last Thursday after school, and took the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher.

This early meeting was intended to strengthen the ties between the classroom teachers and parents, in that both get a chance to meet each other with the student present. Building better links between our school and your homes encourages positive learning experiences for students.

We received many positive comments from parents. I would like to share this email that was received from a parent of a Year 4 student .

I would like to say thank you for the meet and greet session. It was very helpful and successful.

I really appreciated how clearly and slowly everything was explained. As English is my second language, it made it much more comfortable for me to understand what the teachers were saying. That meant a lot to me.

It was very useful to hear about NAPLAN preparation for Year 5 and the different learning styles that will be introduced to help students get ready. I also appreciated all the information shared about what to expect in the coming year, including camps, cyber safety, and positive behaviour expectations for parents and carers.

It was clear that the teachers are very keen to support and work with both students and families, which is very reassuring.

Thank you again for providing all the information on the screen and making the session so informative and welcoming.
