Junior School

你 好 (ni hao) Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 families,

This week is Year 2, students began their Persuasive Writing unit focusing on following the text structure. Students explored how they can clearly state their opinion and give reasons and evidence to support it. We will continue this unit over the next few weeks, investigating how they can uplevel their writing to include Sizzling Starts to hook the audience.

Both Year 1 and 2 students also participated in the Cyber Safety Project Incursion. We learnt about the importance of balancing our screen time usage and what to do if we begin to feel worried or frustrated when using technology. Students practised using the START acronym to help them know what to do in these situations.

S - Switch off the device

T - Take a break

A - Active (take an active, movement break)

R - Rest (take a restful, calming break)

T - Time to go again

This is the first step in our Digital Technologies program at MPRPS. Throughout the year, students will continue to learn how to use technologies (including iPads and Chromebooks for Year 2 students) safely and learn about different applications on each device. All Junior school students will have recieved a Digital Technologies Acceptable User Agreement to take home this week. Please ensure you fill this out and return it to your classroom teacher.

Thank-you to all of the families who attend the Junior School Information Night this week. It was wonderful to see you and share information about what your child does at school each day.
