Principal Class News

Welcome Back for 2026!

It has been a productive and energetic first few weeks back at school. Our students have quickly settled into their new routines, and the classrooms are already buzzing with focused activity.

I’ve been particularly impressed by:

  • A Smooth Transition: Our prep students have navigated their first few weeks with confidence, while our seniors have stepped into their leadership roles with ease.
  • Classroom Engagement: From early literacy sessions to collaborative science projects, the level of participation across all year levels has been excellent.
  • Community Spirit: It has been great to see so many familiar faces at the gate and to witness students welcoming new peers into their friendship groups on the playground.

It was great to get lots of positive feedback from families about our Setting up for Success doc that we sent out to families via Compass.  If you didn't see this, please make time to go back and have a read.  There is plenty of information that will help for the start of the year.

Thank you for your support in getting the children ready for a successful start. We have a busy term ahead, and I look forward to keeping you updated on our progress.

Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund- Do you have a valid Health Care Card?

CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school excursions, camps and

sporting activities.

If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or support an out of home care student, you may be eligible for CSEF.

A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families.

The allowance is paid directly to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for

the benefit of your child.

The current payment amount is $400.00 for eligible primary school students.

If you applied for CSEF last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year unless there has been a change

in your family circumstances.

Changed family circumstances: Such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing this year.

New student enrolments: Your child has started or changed schools this year.

Once completed, please email this form to cranbourne.south.ps@education.vic.gov.au along with a copy of your current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.  Or please come to the administration office to complete an application form.

The CSEF program for 2026 closes Friday, 26 June 2026

Drop Off and Pick Up

Our school is buzzing with energy during drop-off and pick-up, and we love seeing our students arrive so eager to learn! To keep that morning magic and afternoon hustle safe, I’m reaching out with a request for us all to take extra care behind the wheel.

Our little ones are still learning the ropes of road safety and can be hard to spot when they’re excited to see their friends. Slowing down isn’t just about following rules; it’s about making sure every child feels secure. We’ve recently heard from our lovely neighbours on Wonda Street who are concerned about excessive speeds. Let’s show them the respect and care our school community is known for by keeping our speed down and our eyes peeled.

A few extra minutes in traffic is a small price to pay for the safety of our children. Please stick to the 40km/h limit aroudn the school and 50km limit in Botanic Ridge estate, avoid parking in driveways and no standing zones, and stay patient. In the afternoons, consider coming 5-10 mins later- staff are on duty until 3.45pm and students are more than welcome to wait in the Kiss and Go area.  Most traffic is cleared by 3.40pm!

Thank you for being such a supportive community and for helping us keep our streets a safe space for everyone to grow and learn.

Upcoming Events

I am so excited that the House Cross Country is on next Friday!  It is always a huge day with lots of community spirit.  A big thank you to all the parents who are coming along to support and cheer on the kids.

The Prep Meet and Greet event is on after school on Wednesday 4th March.  I can't wait to see all of our prep kiddos and families come along to join in the fun.

A reminder that Monday 9th March is a Public Holiday for Labour Day.

Have a great weekend,

Cate
