Support and Extension at BBPS – 2026

At BBPS, we remain committed to meeting students at their point of need, recognising the diverse academic profiles across our school.

Intervention

We farewell Averil Gramaconi at the end of this term, and sincerely thank her for her significant contribution to literacy intervention at our school over the past 21 years! We will be formally farewelling her at assembly on March 16, for those who would like to attend.

In 2026, intervention will primarily occur within classrooms, making the most of our small class sizes and strong team-teaching approach. Teachers will work collaboratively to provide targeted small group support and extension linked to classroom learning.

Our Education Support staff will also continue to deliver small group and 1:1 intervention for students with identified learning needs, using evidence-based programs in which they are trained. Teachers will discuss student involvement on an individual basis, and specific intervention approaches will be documented as a key adjustment in updated Individual Education Plans, which teachers are sharing in the coming week. ES supported intervention has begun.

The Greenies

Last year, while the new garden was being built around us, our Greenies took a small patch of the old space and turned it into something pretty special. From that little corner we harvested the last of the kale (soon to become very crisp kale chips!), ran Friday afternoon salad and veggie sales, and even sold the tomato seedlings the girls had grown and nurtured themselves. It was real hands-on learning — planting, harvesting, pricing, problem-solving, talking to customers — all in one small space. They worked incredibly hard through all the changes and made it joyful the whole way through. Now, with almost all of our new garden beds in place, we’re ready to plant again and grow this next season even bigger. Stay tuned — there will definitely be more fresh veggies coming your way soon

Come and check out some of the colourful pieces of art students have created so far this year (just outside the office on the way to the library). Here are a few as a small preview:
