Year 3 Wildlife Incursion
On Tuesday 24th February the grade threes went to the Wentworth Building to learn about Australian wildlife. We met someone called Andrew and he told us about all kinds of wildlife. Firstly, Andrew asked two people to come to the front to hold a blue tongue lizard. Then Andrew told us about the blue tongue lizard and the lizard kept wiggling around. Next, he got out a long-necked turtle and picked two different people to come to the front. The turtle was pretending he was swimming in the air. The turtle was forty years old! After that Andrew asked for a teacher to come to the front and two kids and they got to hold a bearded dragon. It’s called a bearded dragon because if danger comes, its neck gets bigger to scare away predators. After that I got picked to go to the front and I got to hold a stumpy tailed lizard. It was so much fun. Next, he brought out a python. Its skin felt wet, but it wasn’t, it was just cool. Then my teacher, Ms Manning got to hold a green tree frog. She had to put some water on her hands to hold it. Finally, we got to have free time to touch and carry animals that were dead and alive. My favourite part was holding a sea turtle and getting a picture with it.

On the 24th of February we had the year 3 wildlife incursion. Firstly, we walked to the Wentworth Building with Andrew and sat down. He asked for some volunteers, and I got chosen to hold a penguin that had a plastic bag and net on it. It was a bit sad because the animal had died like that. I liked when he said, ‘Now everyone can get up and start holding things.’ Then he got the animals out that are still alive! We got to hold and pat them!! The animals were a blue tongue lizard, bearded dragon, green tree frog, a turtle, a snake and my favourite one, the stumpy tailed lizard. When we held them, I got to hold the snake around my neck. There were a few tadpoles, a spider and cockroaches but we didn’t hold them. That would be yuk! I loved the wildlife incursion.
