Grade 2 News

Welcome to Term 1 of 2026! We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable holiday. The students have settled in wonderfully and are continuing to demonstrate our school values of Excellence, Happiness, Integrity and Community. It has been fantastic to see how well the students have adjusted back into routines.
We are excited to welcome all of our Grade 2 teachers and in particular, LauraRobinson who will be working in 2A. Laura brings enthusiasm, dedication, and a passion for creating a positive and engaging learning environment.
What We’ve Been Learning in Grade 2:
Maths:This term, students have been exploring Place Value and how to represent 2 and 3 digit numbers. They are developing strong problem-solving skills and applying their knowledge in practical ways using hands-on concrete materials.
English: In English, we have focused on the sounds /ee/, /ay/ and /igh/. Students have been practicing their writing, reading fluency, and letter formation to strengthen their English skills. It’s wonderful to see their progress in expressing themselves clearly and confidently.
Humanities: Students began a unit called “Cycles of Nature”, where students learnt about the weather and seasons, along with the earth's rotation. It was great to see all students engaged and participating within the unit.
Reminders:
- Labour Day- Monday 9th March (student free day)
- Wednesday 4th March - Parent Teacher Conversations 1.00pm-6.30pm.
