PE News

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It has been a fantastic start to the year in Physical Education, with students enthusiastically participating in a variety of activities and beginning to build strong foundations in movement skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. It has been wonderful to see so many smiling faces out on the court and oval!

Meet the Teachers:

We are excited to introduce ourselves as your PE teachers for 2026, Ms Blamey and Mrs Perkovic. We are passionate about creating engaging, inclusive and active lessons that help students develop confidence, resilience and a lifelong love of movement.

WIMBA Sport:

This term, students will be participating in WIMBA Sport sessions:

  • Wednesday – Years 3–6
  • Friday – Years 1–2

WIMBA Sport provides students with the opportunity to develop sport-specific skills in a structured and supportive environment. We encourage all students to wear appropriate runners on these days.

Clinics and Special Events:

Over the past few weeks, students have enjoyed:

  • A Year 5/6 Netball Clinic (Netball Victoria), where they developed their passing, footwork and shooting skills.
  • A Year 2 and Year 4 Basketball Clinic (Wyndham Basketball), focusing on dribbling, teamwork and game play fundamentals.

These sessions have been a fantastic opportunity for students to experience specialised coaching and further develop their skills.

What We’re Learning:

  • Foundation – Year 2: Students will focus on developing fundamental movement skills, particularly locomotor skills (such as running, hopping and skipping) and catching and throwing. These skills form the building blocks for future sport participation.
  • Years 3–6: Students will be developing their understanding of invasion games, with a focus on teamwork, spatial awareness, strategy and effective communication.

We are incredibly proud of the positive attitudes students have shown towards trying new activities and supporting one another.

A reminder that all students should bring a water bottle to every PE session and wear appropriate footwear to ensure they can safely participate.

We are looking forward to an active and exciting term ahead!

Kind regards,

Ms Blamey & Mrs Perkovic
