Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people. May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.
School Council Elections
School Councils play a vital role in Victorian government schools.
Would you like to know more about school operations?
Would you like to have a role in establishing the broad direction and vision of the school within the school's community?
Nominations for our 2026 School Council are being called, and we would love to have some new members join us this year.
Self-nomination forms are available from our office and are open from today through until Wednesday 25th February.
Should there be more nominations than vacancies, a ballot will then commence over the course of the following week to establish the final membership.
Please consider nominating and joining a vibrant and active group of volunteers, who provide wonderful governance for our school.
Staffing update
We’re pleased to share that Ryan Bartok will be stepping into the role of Acting Assistant Principal until the end of Week 5. During this time, Ryan will be leading our work in the important areas of wellbeing and Disability Inclusion. His leadership and commitment to supporting every student to feel safe, valued, and included will be a wonderful asset to our school community. We thank Ryan for taking on this role and look forward to the positive impact of this work over the coming weeks
Connect Ed
We’re excited to be running ConnectEd again this year!
This valuable program shares important information about how we approach learning at MRK–6, along with practical strategies and supports that can be implemented through a strong partnership between home and school to maximise each child’s learning.
Facilitated by our Learning Specialists and experienced Early Years teachers, ConnectEd offers families an engaging, insightful and informative opportunity to better understand and support their child’s educational journey.
I would sincerely like to thank our families for your ongoing partnership and support within our school community. Your involvement, encouragement and collaboration make a meaningful difference to the learning and wellbeing of all our students.
Sarah Bigmore
Acting Principal
