On Thursday morning, our school celebrated our first mass with our new priest, Fr Michael. The students were so reverent and respectful, especially our new Prep students who sat quietly throughout mass and practised making their 'Sign of the cross' and joined in with some of the responses.
Father Michael spoke of the importance of being 'Salt and Light' to those we meet. Salt makes food taste better, so we are asked to be 'salt of the earth' by making life better for those around us. We are called to bring God’s light to others, to show them a generous hand and a kind heart, to help them believe in a future where they can find joy and happiness and to build a St Louis community where everyone feels valued and welcomed.
The Year 6 students received a special blessing, giving thanks to God for the gifts that they bring to our school community and encouraging them to be disciples of God's love, treasuring the gift of faith as they continue to grow in friendship with Jesus.
The staff we also commissioned in their role as educators, asking for God's blessing in their vital role as they bring the Light of Christ to the children and families at St Louis', ensuring that all children feel safe, valued and deeply loved. May God continue to bless and guide them as they journey through this new school year.

On Tuesday, we will be celebrating Shrove Tuesday with the consumption of PANCAKES.
This tradition originated as Shrove Tuesday was the last day for Christians to indulge in rich foods like eggs, milk, and butter before the 40-day Lenten fast leading to Easter, using up leftovers to make pancakes as a practical feast before Lent's restrictions began.
Hopefully, students have put their orders in!
This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the day we are marked with ashes on our forehead to show our commitment of faith and humility as we start our 40 day Lenten journey preparing for the death and resurrectiomn of Jesus Christ at Easter.
There will be a whole school Ash Wednesday liturgy in the hall, commencing at 12 pm. All are welcome to join us in prayer. (You must have a current Working With Children's Check if you would like to attend)
Just a reminder that we will be celebrating the Prep Welcome Mass on Sunday, 22nd February, in the Hall at 10.30 am. Our Year 6 buddies and their families are welcome to join u,s too. Please respond on Compass if you have not done so already.
