We're a great mix in Level 6!

Hello everyone,
We hope all families and students are well. It has been a busy and successful week in Level 6. Here are some of the highlights, important dates, and a few reminders.
Auditions for the school’s big production, Pirates of the Curry-Bean, have concluded with great energy and have been highly entertaining. Students showcased their talents through masterful performances, captivating the teachers with their creativity and confidence.
Many participants delivered their prepared pieces, which included short monologues and song excerpts, with remarkable skill and expression. The enthusiasm and dedication of the students were evident. Families play a vital role by supporting students in preparing pieces and practising at home for our production. Communication of any necessary accommodations for rehearsals in the future will be greatly appreciated. All signs point to a spectacular production!

Congratulations to Level 6 athletes who represented the school with outstanding sportsmanship at the Inter-school Sports Gala Day. They participated in events like Basketball, Soft Cross, Cricket, T-Ball, Bat Tennis, and Volley Bounce. Special thanks to the classroom teachers and parent volunteers who organized practice sessions and supported students on the day. Their dedication ensured students were prepared, confident, and well-supported. Appreciation goes to all families who transported students, cheered on the sidelines, and encouraged participation.

In Mathematics, students have been working diligently with decimals, subtracting decimal numbers using visual representations and vertical algorithms with regrouping/renaming. They are also extending their place-value understanding with tailored activities. The extra practice provided by families at home is invaluable — even a few minutes reviewing place-value or solving a short subtraction problem together boosts confidence and mastery.
In Writing and Reading, students are exploring strong story beginnings using foreshadowing and hooks to capture readers’ interest. They are developing voice and atmosphere as they draft.
In Reading/Social Studies, students have been learning about important elements of Australia’s history, focusing on the impacts of European settlement on Indigenous Australia. They are being taught to approach this topic with respect, empathy, and critical thinking. Thank you for discussing these topics at home and supporting thoughtful conversations about history and storytelling.
Please keep an eye on Compass for forms related to the production, excursions, or sports. Returning forms quickly helps us plan effectively.
