The Prep students began their first days of school with a mix of excitement and apprehension as they embarked on their entry to school. A year filled with new experiences, growing independence and the beginnings of lifelong friendships as the students came together for the first time learning what it means to be part of a classroom and school community. It has been a joy to welcome them into school and to see so many families present to share in this important milestone.
The students have thoroughly enjoyed their first experiences of school, already creating special memories that will be treasured for years to come. Over the first few days, they have been settling in beautifully as they become familiar with morning routines, the classroom environment and the wider school setting. They have been learning their peers’ names, developing a sense of belonging and growing in confidence each day.
Classroom experiences have seen students enjoy singing songs together and engage in early literacy experiences, including sequencing the letters of the alphabet and beginning handwriting using lowercase letters in Sassoon font. In Mathematics, they have been busy counting and developing number awareness and will focus on locational language as the week progresses.
The students have settled into the routines of being at school and the Prep teachers look forward to supporting a year of discovery, learning, connection and growth.
