PRINCIPAL'S REPORT:

YEAR LEVEL CONTACTS:
From time to time, you may need to contact the School to ask a question or discuss a concern. When this happens, your child’s Year Level Co-ordinator is the best first point of contact.
They know the students in their Year Group well and are well placed to help, provide clarification, or guide you in the right direction.
Year Level Co-ordinator for each year level below:
Year 7 – Ms Zoe Ferrier
Year 8 – Ms Michelle Sutcliffe
Year 9 – Mrs Jane Todd
Year 10 – Mr Jon Roberts
Year 11 & 12 – Mr Nathan Henry.
PAT and MORRISBY TESTING:
Over the past two weeks, students in Years 7–10 have completed their English and Mathematics PAT assessments. These assessments provide valuable insight into each student’s current skill level and help our teachers identify strengths, target areas for growth and set meaningful goals for the next stage of learning.
The testing process has been co-ordinated by Miss Rose and the results play a key role in our school’s Professional Learning Community. By carefully analysing this data, our staff can tailor teaching strategies to better support your child’s progress and achievement.
Next week, our Year 9 students will complete their Morrisby surveys. This comprehensive career profiling tool helps students explore potential career pathways based on their interests, strengths, and preferences. Through a series of thoughtful questions about their likes and dislikes, the survey can highlight work areas and career possibilities they may not have previously considered. Each student will then participate in a follow-up interview to help interpret their results and guide them in planning future pathways with confidence.
For all assessments and surveys, we encourage students to approach the process sincerely and give their very best effort. Honest and thoughtful responses ensure the results are meaningful and provide the strongest foundation for informed learning and career decisions.
KTHS SCHOOL COUNCIL:
We are currently inviting parent nominations for School Council and warmly encourage you to consider becoming involved.Joining School Council is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the direction and future of our school. It is especially exciting at this time, as we continue to grow and develop with the addition of new buildings and ongoing improvements. Your voice, ideas and perspective as a parent are incredibly valuable as we navigate these changes together.
Below you will find further information about the role of School Council and what is involved. We hope you will consider putting your name forward and being part of this important work.
WHAT IS A SCHOOL COUNCIL AND WHAT DOES IT DO?
All government schools in Victoria have a school council. They are legally constituted bodies that are given powers to set the key directions of a school within statewide guidelines. In doing this, a school council is able to directly influence the quality of education that the school provides for its students.
WHY IS PARENT MEMBERSHIP SO IMPORTANT?
Parents on school councils provide important viewpoints and have valuable skills that can help shape the direction of the school.
DO I NEED SPECIAL EXPERIENCE TO BE ON SCHOOL COUNCIL?
Each member brings their own valuable life skills and knowledge to the role. What you do need is an interest in your child's school and the desire to work in partnership with others to help shape the school's future.
HOW LONG IS A TERM Of OFFICE?
Two years with half of the members retiring each year which creates vacancies for the annual school council elections. Meetings are held the third Monday of every month.
WHERE TO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE?
Self-nomination forms are available below or on the information rack at the front office.
I would like to encourage our parent community to think about nominating for School Council. Together, we can continue to work to make Kerang Technical School a school to be proud of.

NO SCHOOL ACCIDENT or PERSONAL PROPERTY INSURANCE:
At times, the School is required to call an ambulance if a student is injured or sick. The School will always err on the side of caution and call an ambulance. The School will try to contact the respective parents but sometimes the phone is not answered. Therefore, I would like to remind all parents and guardians that:
- Parents/Guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance/transport and any other transport costs; and
- Parents/Guardians can purchase insurance policies from Commercial Insurers.
Further to this, the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and it has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property.
