Harmony Week is a national celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity and a time to reflect on what brings us together. Harmony Week recognises the many cultures, languages, traditions and experiences that shape our communities and workplaces, while promoting inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

The theme for Harmony Week 2026, “Everyone Belongs,” is a powerful reminder that belonging is not something people should have to earn. It is something we create together - through understanding, respect and meaningful connection.

Monday, 23rd March 2026 – Harmony Day Parade

We are looking forward to seeing our students and staff come dressed in their cultural clothing or wearing some orange. The students can wear any item that represents their cultural background, the colour orange with casual clothes or a touch of orange with their uniform. The parade will begin at 9:15am, we look forward to welcoming parents to this celebration of all our wonderful cultures.

Thank you to all the families who shared their feedback on our current school values of Respect, Safety and Responsibility. The survey results showed strong overall support for these values and a shared commitment to continuing to strengthen how they are lived out across our school community.

As part of this work, the PBL Leadership Team has been meeting with staff to discuss key behaviour trends and to identify how we can more explicitly teach students what it means to be respectful, safe and responsible in different areas of the school.

Using this feedback, the PBL Team will meet on Friday 20 March to develop the first draft of our Behaviour Expectations Matrix. This draft will then be shared with staff, students and families for further feedback.

We will also be reviewing the amazing mascot entries that have been submitted. Choosing a shortlist will be no easy task, as the quality and creativity of the entries have been fantastic. Once a shortlist has been created, it will be shared with students, who will then have the opportunity to take part in the final vote.

There is so much to look forward to in the PBL space, and we are excited to continue this journey together as a school community.

Next week, on Tuesday 24 March and Wednesday 25 March, the MHIPS team will take part in two days of training. This training will focus on building our school’s understanding of mental health and wellbeing, strengthening staff knowledge, and supporting us to plan for the needs of our students. It will also help guide how we identify concerns early, support students in the classroom, and work in partnership with families.
