Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day 2026 – Supporting Safe and Positive Online Experiences

On Tuesday 10 February, GWPS joined communities across Australia in recognising Safer Internet Day. This day is all about raising awareness and encouraging families to have simple, open conversations about how children use technology at home.

Safer Internet Day is a helpful reminder to check in with children about their digital experiences. Even short, everyday conversations can make a big difference in helping them stay safe online.

Families are encouraged to talk with their children about:

  • Keeping personal information private

  • Telling a trusted adult if something online feels worrying or confusing or if help is needed.

  • Being kind and respectful in digital spaces

What helps your child stay safe online? By working together, we can help our children build healthy online habits and enjoy the benefits of technology in a safe and positive way. An information booklet on setting up parental controls on your child’s devices has been attached to our newsletter. Please contact the school if you need assistance with this. We will also have police officers from the community engagement team to visit our school to speak to students about online safety this year.
