DEAKIN DISTRICT SUMMER CARNIVAL (Year 5/6)
The Deakin District Summer Carnival is on Thursday 5th March from 11.30am - 2.30pm for all Year 5/6 students. The students will be playing Tee ball, Cricket, Dodgeball and Swimming at Geelong College Middle School, Aberdeen St, Geelong West and Tennis at Geelong College Senior School, Aphrasia St, Newtown. Parents and friends are welcome to attend.
The Compass Excursion note is ready for approval with consent closing on Friday 27th February.
HOUSE ATHLETICS (Year 3-6)
The annual School House Athletics is on Friday 6th March at Landy Field, South Geelong from 9.30am - 2.30pm for all Year 3 - 6 students. Students will compete in Athletics events and will need to wear their HOUSE colours. Thank you to the parents who have offered their support for the day to date. We still require further support.
We would love the support of parents on the day to help time keep etc. If you are available for any time during the day (10.00am - 12.00pm and 12.30pm - 2.30pm) please contact Mrs Liversidge or Mrs Burns.

LITTLE ATHLETICS REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Last weekend we had numerous students compete in the Regional Little Athletics Championships at Goldsworthy Athletics Track Corio. Congratulations to all students who competed and to Mia M who placed 3rd in the Under 9 800m event. Mia now progresses to the State Championships in March for her performance.
SCHOOL FUN RUN/CROSS COUNTRY (Prep—Year 6)
The School Fun Run/Cross Country will be held on Thursday 19th March 11.30am - 1.30pm for all students in Prep - Year 6. Students are encouraged to wear their HOUSE Colours for the event. From the results of the Year 3-6 events (age group races), we will select our School Cross Country team to compete at the District event on Thursday 23rd April during Term 2.

2026 TEAM VIC TRIALS - REMINDER

Students who wish to be nominated for these trials must inform Mrs Liversidge or Mrs Burns by Thursday 19th February.
Schools can nominate 3 students per sport. If more than 3 students wish to be nominated, schools are required to run trials to select the nominations.
TEAM VIC trials nominations are now open and close on March 2nd.
TEAM VIC trials are held for the following sports—AFL Boys, Cricket Boys, Netball Girls Football (Soccer) Boys, Basketball Boys, Basketball Girls.
Regional trials are held for each sport on the following dates:
AFL BOYS–24th March
Basketball GIRLS & BOYS—26th March
Football BOYS (soccer) –28th April
Cricket—12th May
Netball—28th April
The trials will be at various venues in Melbourne with an entry fee of $35.00 per student.
PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORT STRUCTURE
Grovedale West is a member of School Sport Victoria which is the governing body for Primary and Secondary School SPORT.
Grovedale West is a member of the Deakin DISTRICT, which is in the Geelong North DIVISION and the Western Metropolitan REGION.
