Year 3 

Spotlight on Learning

 Our Week 4 Focuses:

Religious Education: The Grade 3's learned about Ash Wednesday and could chose to participate in receiving the Sign Of The Cross in ash on their foreheads. When the Grade 3's received their ash crosses they recieved the blessing of 'Repent and receive the Gospel'. They discovered that Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent.

English: We have continued to read the Narrative story 'Matilda' by Roald Dahl. 

This week we have learnt more about Miss Trunchball and her love for throwing the Hammer or children! We have also learnt about the 'Chokey' and what happens if you eat some of Miss Trunchball's chocolate cake. 

The Grade 3's continue to work wonderfully on their whiteboards during Reading, Writing and Numeracy. 

The students have begun planning their narrative writing pieces and will move on to drafting once their planning is complete. We are looking forward to reading their finished narratives.

Mathematics: We have continued to focus on Place Value using 5 or 6 digit numbers and writing the number in words and have progressed to Regrouping and Renaming. Renaming to find 1 less has proven to be tricky to start with. 

Auslan: We have been practicing asking questions using Auslan signs in the correct order.

Please send an art smockto school for your child this week if you haven't already done so.

Please sign your child's ICT agreement as soon as possible so that we can commence using ICT within our learning.
