Summary of Learning

Foundation

Foundation students have been settling into Physical Education by learning routines and expectations that help keep lessons safe, organised, and fun. They have been exploring the rules of simple tag games while developing an understanding of boundaries and safe movement in shared spaces. Students have also been practising their jumping skills through engaging activities that build confidence, coordination, and body control.

Year 1 & 2

Year 1 and 2 have been building on similar routines and expectations while extending their movement skills. They have been developing jumping technique, practising throwing and catching, and participating in running and chasing games that promote teamwork and spatial awareness. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they apply rules, move safely within boundaries, and demonstrate increasing control of their fundamental movement skills.

Year 3 & 4

Year 3 and 4 students have been busy preparing for Athletics Day. So far, they have been focusing on sprints and shot put, and the new high jump mat at school is an exciting novelty (to be explored in class next week!) Students are working on improving their running speed and technique in sprints, and learning the correct grip and throwing action for shot put (or, as we like to call it for fun in Year 3 and 4... Iron Man Push!) It has been great to see their effort, enthusiasm and teamwork during each session. We look forward to seeing them put their skills into action on Athletics Day!

Year 5 & 6

Students in Year 5 and 6 have been preparing for the upcoming Athletics Day by developing their skills across a range of track and field events. They have been learning and practising sprinting techniques to improve speed and form, exploring shot put with a focus on safe technique and controlled power, and building confidence in high jump through skill progressions and technique work. It has been fantastic to see students challenge themselves, support one another, and strive for personal improvement as they get ready for the big day.
