Learning Diversity
Inclusive Learning at St Fidelis
Inclusive learning experiences at St Fidelis are designed to remove barriers to learning, actively engage all students, and promote growth and success for every child. Teachers use high-impact, evidence-based teaching practices to ensure students receive appropriate instruction, support, and adjustments to meet their individual learning needs. Where adjustments and interventions are required, these are documented in a student’s Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) and discussed at a Program Support Group (PSG) meeting.
At St Fidelis, we strongly believe that partnering with families is essential in developing respectful, collaborative relationships and a supportive school community. By working together, we ensure that every learner is known, understood, and provided with meaningful opportunities to engage in enriching learning experiences. Our shared commitment is to achieve the highest possible outcomes for each child in our care.
What is a Program Support Group (PSG)?
A Program Support Group (PSG) is a collaborative partnership between parents/carers, school staff, the student (where appropriate), and relevant professionals. Together, the group works to develop shared goals and coordinated strategies that support the student’s learning, well-being, and overall development.
PSG meetings focus on discussing your child’s strengths, needs, learning progress, and wellbeing, and on developing and reviewing Personalised Learning Plans and any required adjustments or interventions.
Program Support Groups Work Together To:
- Identify your child’s strengths, needs, and areas for growth.
- Review assessment data and professional reports to guide planning.
- Set and evaluate learning and wellbeing goals.
- Develop, implement, and review learning adjustments and interventions.
- Monitor progress and make changes where needed.
- Seek specialist advice when appropriate.
- Develop and review personalised plans, including Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs), Behaviour Support Plans, Medical or Health Management Plans, and other relevant support plans.
Which Students Have a Parent Support Group Meeting?
A PSG may be established for students whose academic, social, emotional, behavioural, cultural, health, or well-being needs require additional planning, monitoring, and support. This may occur when:
- A student is receiving ongoing or targeted learning adjustments or interventions.
- Adjustments require regular monitoring and evaluation.
- There are significant or unexpected changes in a student’s personal circumstances.
- There are changes in how a student learns or engages at school.
- Needs are identified by families, the school, or allied health professionals.
A student is newly enrolled, or a new need arises.
How Program Support Group Meetings Will Run
Program Support Group (PSG) meetings will be held at the beginning of each term. These meetings provide an opportunity for families and staff to meet, reflect on progress, and collaboratively set learning and wellbeing goals for the term ahead.
During each meeting, we will:
- Review progress and outcomes from the previous term.
- Discuss your child’s strengths, needs, and any relevant assessment data.
- Set clear, achievable goals and agree on appropriate learning adjustments and supports.
Toward the end of each term, families will receive a summary of their child’s goals and progress for review, reading, and signing. These goals will then form the basis for discussion at the following term’s PSG meeting. This cycle ensures consistent monitoring, reflection, and growth throughout the school year.
For further information, please refer to the Catholic Education Victoria Parent Guide to Program Support Group Meetings, attached.
If you have any questions or would like further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact the school. We value your partnership and look forward to working closely with you to support your child’s learning journey.

Wellbeing
Welcome Back to School!
Welcome back to the 2026 school year! At St Fidelis, our focus is on each student’s wellbeing, so they are supported and enabled to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are excited to begin a year full of learning, connection, and opportunities for every child to grow.
Student Wellbeing Surveys (Weeks 4–5)
In Weeks 4 and 5 of Term 1, students in Years 1–6 will participate in Social and Emotional Wellbeing Surveys as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting student wellbeing. Students in Years 3–6 will also complete the Resilient Youth Survey through our Resilience Project learning.
These evidence-based surveys help us better understand students’ emotional wellbeing, resilience, and coping skills, allowing us to refine our wellbeing programs and support positive mental health. All data is collected securely, with the school receiving summary results only — individual student information is not shared.
Additional information will be sent home to families prior to the surveys.
TRP at Home & Learning Diaries
Our students continue to practise TRP strategies at school, Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy, and we encourage families to support this learning at home. Using student diaries to reflect on emotions, challenges, and successes helps children build self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience. Simple conversations about their day and diary entries make a big difference.
Class Charters: How We Develop Identity and Belonging
Each class has been creating Class Charters that reflect shared values, expectations, and how we want to treat one another. These charters help students take ownership of their learning environment, build positive relationships, and strengthen a sense of belonging and identity in their classroom.
Supporting Student Wellbeing
We warmly invite families to reach out to your child’s teachers or to us if you would like support with your child’s wellbeing. For support or concerns, families can reach out to your child’s teachers, Vicky and Bianka, or our Leadership team, Manuela and Vira. Together with teachers and students, we are committed to nurturing each child’s social, emotional, and academic growth, helping them feel supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Biketober
Last year, our school was recognised for its efforts during Biketober, and as a result, we won a Gelato Van for our school! A permission letter for this special treat will be sent home later this week.
The Gelato Van at St Fidelis Friday March 20th.
Thank you for your ongoing support in nurturing happy, connected learners. Together, we continue to build a caring community where every child feels valued, safe, and supported to reach their full potential.
