Deputy Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Welcome to the new school year! I hope you and your families enjoyed a restful and refreshing break. As we begin another exciting year together, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those families I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting.

I bring over 20 years of experience in Catholic Education, having worked across a range of leadership and teaching roles. I hold a Master’s degree in Education and a postgraduate qualification in Literacy Intervention, and I am deeply passionate about improving student outcomes, engagement, and wellbeing. This is my fifth year as Deputy Principal at St Fidelis, and I feel privileged to work alongside such a dedicated team of staff and families.

In my roles as Deputy Principal, Teaching & Learning Leader, and Learning Diversity Leader, I am committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every child is empowered to reach their full potential.

As the Teaching & Learning Leader, I work closely with teachers to strengthen high-quality instructional practices, support professional learning, lead inquiry planning, and oversee assessment and reporting to ensure that student progress is carefully monitored and celebrated.

As the Learning Diversity Leader, I collaborate with staff and families to ensure students with diverse learning needs receive the appropriate support and adjustments to thrive. This includes working alongside teachers to implement inclusive strategies, meeting regularly with families through Parent Support Group meetings, and supporting assessment and intervention processes to best meet individual learning needs.

A little about me outside of school — I love shopping, travelling, and visiting art galleries, and I enjoy drawing whenever I get the chance. Breakfast outings and music are among my favourite ways to unwind. And, of course, I remain hopeful that this will finally be the year the Kangaroos enjoy a strong season and make the finals!

I look forward to another year full of opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve together, and I welcome ongoing communication with families as we work in partnership to support every child.

Warm regards,

Vira Pirrotta

Have a lovely week
