Year 3 News

Welcome to Year 3 2026!

The purpose of our newsletter is to share highlights from our learning space, updates on upcoming events, and key dates to keep in mind. We are looking forward to an incredible year of learning, growth and collaboration, and we can’t wait to keep you in the loop about all the wonderful things we get up to!

As a learning community, we have engaged in dialogue with one another to create a class charter (agreement) on how we wish our learning environment to look like, sound like and feel like. We understand that our learning environment is our shared responsibility and we want to support ourselves and our peers to have the best year.

As readers and writers, we have been exploring various texts to understand their important ideas, the author’s message, and connections to our own lives. Through this, we have learnt that we all have different strengths and ways of growing into successful learners.

As mathematicians, we have been learning to create class graphs about our birthdays and favourite AFL teams. We collected our data and organised the information in a clear way. We presented our data as pictographs and analysed our data to explain what we could notice.

Home Learning Expectations

In Year 3, the expectation for Home Learning is for students to read each night and record their reading in our school diary. The school diary must be handed in every Friday for the classroom teacher to review and sign.

The Home Learning task sheets will be discussed and explained during class. Students have two weeks to complete all tasks on the sheet and return to school on the assigned date. All home learning must be completed in the Home Learning workbook. Home learning will begin Monday Week 4.

SMART spelling sheets go home weekly, with the intention for students to spend time writing and practising all 18 words on their list each night. The spelling sheets will be kept in the black display folders and returned to school every Friday for review.
