Sport & PE

In PE this term, Prep to Year 3 students will be working with Kathryn develop their fundamental movement skills like running, jumping and throwing and teamwork skills. This week we learned to throw a vortex. There are some great throwers amongst this group.
The Year 4 to 6 students are working on their PE skills with Dave on Monday afternoons. Their PE classes have been focussing on developing a variety of athletics skills. Last Monday was a bit too warm to be outside so we worked on our throwing skills in the multi-purpose room. We worked on throwing with both our preferred and non-preferred hands and were throwing at targets with different sized balls. We finished with a very energetic game of Skittles.
Lunchtime Olympics
Two of our year 3 students, Banjo and Finn, have been eagerly watching the Winter Olympics cheering on our Aussie team. They have both been inspired and taken the inititive to start a lunchtime activity club inspired by our winter olympians. They have thought of some winter olympic disiplines and tried to adapt them into our current summer days. For their first event day, Banjo and Finn had a lot of students attend and run their olympic standard course. We look forward to seeing what event pops up next week.
