Year 4-6 Electives - Wednesdays
Games Group with Steph
Student's have been busy learning new card, dice and board games. This week all students voted to play Monopoly. All games are still in progress and will continue next session. We'll let you know who the budding millionaire moguls will be next week!
Kitchen Garden Group with Kathryn
We have been busy harvesting from our apple and pear trees this week. This week's garden jobs included: weeding a garden bed, collecting the mature compost and adding it to the bed and topping the garden bed off with leaves to help it get ready for planting.
We loved discovering new creatures and managed to find all sorts of minibeasts. Our focus skills this week were safe tool handling and how to set up a compost.
Our group is looking forward to cooking some delicious apple treats next week.
Circus Group with Anna
This week we worked on rotations, learning new circus skills. We practiced some routines that we then presented to the group. Some of the skills we've been working on are the pogo ball, diablo, scarf juggling and cart wheels.
Prep - Year 3 Rotation - Mondays
School of Play with Kim
Year 2 students have spent the last 3 Monday afternoons participating in activities inspired by the School of Play who visited our school last year (www.theschoolofplay.co). The aim is to develop social skills and have fun while playing games. Kim has also introduced us to Yahtzee and Battleships.
STEM with Ellen
This week's challenge for Prep/1 was to build things with paper. We started off by making the longest paper chain that we could using an A4 piece of paper.
Our second challenge was to build a free standing bridge that could hold the most weight. We looked at how we could make our paper strong by folding it into different shapes: rectangular prisms, triangular prisms and cylinders. Our Year 6 buddies helped us to create some super strong bridges.

Year 3 have been setting up the compost system. This week we collected rotting fruit and chopped it up to be green waste. We then added leaves for brown waste. We watered it in so the compost can mature and, in time, feed our soil. We discovered all sorts of minibeasts. We cooled off with a drink of the Lemon Cordial that we made last week.
