Message from the Principal

Dear parents, careers and friends of EEPS,

It was wonderful to present the 2026 Junior School Council Representatives with their badges at Assembly on Monday. Well done to the following students:

Year 2- Chloe T, Matilda G, Lily S, Charlotte L

Year 3- Lenny G-L, Lilly N, Jakob B-C, Sofia B

Year 4- Keir T, Emily C, Oliver W, Ryan B

Year 5- Mabel G, Penny T, Oliver S, Audrey M

….but a special mention to everyone who put their hand up and tried out. You always learn something about yourself in the process.

Support

My thoughts are with our EEPS families who have family, or connections in the Middle East, with the widespread escalation of conflict over the weekend. In my position as a public sector employee, it is always important for me to remain apolitical, but when I write or talk about world events, it is from the perspective of a concerned human with a lens to the impact, or potential impact on our families.

Camps

Our 2026 camping program has commenced in earnest with our Year 5s leaving for Woorabinda today. I look forward to visiting them tomorrow. Our Year 6 students are excited to be heading to their final primary school camp next week.

Parent Helpers

The last two weeks has really seen the start of the hundreds of extra activities during the year requiring parent helpers. Firstly, thank you to the large number of parents who have offered to volunteer, and secondly, thank you for the wonderfully polite, respectful and helpful way in which our EEPS parents interact. Not only have we had lots of excursion helpers, but we have also had a squad of parents who have assisted by reclassifying and sorting the Year 2 take home readers. All your help is greatly appreciated.

Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group 2026

The first RAP Working Group meeting for 2026 will be held on Wednesday 25 March, 3:50 –4:20pm in the Conference room. We warmly welcome any members of the school community who would like to join.

School Council

Thank you to those parents who have nominated to be a part of the 2026 EEPS School Council. We did not run elections as we had equal numbers of candidates to vacancies, however we still have a Community Member role available. This member has the same voting and input ‘rights’ as a full council member but the role is for one year rather than two. Please contact Melissa McCarthy, in the first instance, if you would be interested.

I wish the EEPS division swimmers all the best today as they compete at the next level.

Lastly, don’t forget that next Monday, 9th March, is a public holiday. I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend.

Kind regards

Warren Lloyd

Principal
