Learning, growing and celebrating together...
Dear Sacred Heart Kew Families,
We’ve arrived. Week 9, entering the final week of term next week, four school days to go…
Multicultural Day
Last Friday we celebrated Multicultural Day. It was a vibrant and meaningful celebration of the rich diversity that makes up our school community. It was fantastic to see children, staff, and families come together to share and appreciate the many cultures, traditions, and perspectives that shape who we are. Our day began with our Senior children leading us all in our Multicultural paraliturgy and parade, supporting our younger children as they showed off their cultural heritage and traditional dress.
The day was filled with colour, music, learning and a fun Latin Dance Incursion. These experiences not only fostered a deeper understanding of different cultures, but also encouraged respect, curiosity, and a strong sense of belonging among our children. Multicultural Day was more than just a celebration. It was a reflection of our commitment to inclusion and global citizenship.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our staff, children, and families for their enthusiasm and contributions in making this day such a success. Thanks in particular to our Parents’ Association and parent helpers who supplied us all with a yummy pizza lunch. Events like these remind us of the strength found in diversity and the importance of fostering an inclusive school environment, where every individual feels valued and respected. We look forward to continuing to celebrate and learn from the many cultures within our community throughout the year.
Stations of the Cross and Holy Week
Our school community was given a sacred opportunity on Wednesday to pause, reflect, and enter more deeply into the story at the heart of our faith, through the Stations of the Cross. Our Year Three children and staff led us in respectful prayer as we walked alongside Jesus in the final days of his life.
Next week, we will celebrate the beginning of Holy Week with our Palm Sunday paraliturgy on Monday. This will be presented by our Year One children. On Thursday (Holy Thursday), our Holy Thursday paraliturgy will be presented by our Year Four children.
Holy Week reminds us all of the values that sit at the centre of our school community: compassion, forgiveness, service, and hope. It challenges us not only to remember the events of the past, but to consider how we live out these teachings in our daily lives, in our relationships, and in the way we care for one another.
Sports Day and last week of Term 1
We look forward to Sports Day next Wednesday (the races that stop a suburb) and our final day of term Thursday (with our Easter Bonnet Parade to conclude a busy and fun Term 1).
It’s going to be an action packed last week of term together, before we start the holidays, and ready ourselves to celebrate Easter.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.
Kind Regards,
Ed Weekes
School Principal
