Reading
CURRICULUM FOCUS
This week in Reading we are learning to summarise a fiction text.
VOCABULARY
Summarise - telling the most important parts of a text, in your own words, in a much shorter way.
Fiction: a made-up story.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Ask your child to read a fiction dot book from their blue satchel. After reading, ask them to summarise the text using characters, setting, problem and solution.
For example: Goldilocks was in the forest, and she saw the three bears' house. She went inside, ate their porridge, broke their chairs and slept in their beds.
