Chev Need to Knows
2 August 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
At the beginning of this term, we used our Skodel check-in to survey students to gauge their readiness to learn for Term 3, 2024. The survey data produced a report which offered insights into student readiness and the wellbeing factors that impact it. It benchmarks Chevalier against 20,000 secondary students from 40 schools across Australia.
I am pleased to note from the report that:
.
Obviously, the goal would be for 100% of students to be in a positive state, feeling ready to learn, excited, prepared and motivated for the term ahead. However, the reality is that a collection of teenagers present to school each day with different home lives and different life experiences, wrestling with the challenges that come in these years. Whilst the above data is more pleasing than not, I encourage parents and carers to reach out to their child’s Home Room Teacher or Stage Coordinator if they are aware that their child could be experiencing intense worry or very low motivation that would impact their learning. We can work with you to address concerns and thus improve your child’s ability to progress their learning, growth and, of course, their wellbeing.
Best wishes for the coming weekend,
Greg Miller
Principal

Underpinned by the values of a MSC education, Chevalier College is preparing students for a rapidly changing post-school world. As past students who may own businesses, lead organisations and employ young people, you are invited to hear from our Principal, Greg Miller, about the future-facing initiatives happening at Chev.
After listening to Greg and reflecting on what you valued from your time at Chev, you will be encouraged to ask questions, make suggestions and provide feedback about what you look for in early career employees.
Join us for drinks and canapés from 5.30pm. Greg will commence his presentation at 6.00pm.
Book your complimentary ticket here.
Please contact Averil Cutroni, Development Officer on 02 4861 0519 if you would like more information.
We understand it is not always convenient to make it to the College for events, especially for those in our outlying towns and villages. That’s why we’re excited to invite you to our ‘Town Talks’ with our Principal, Greg Miller.
Greg will be making a special visit to Picton on Wednesday 14 August, and he’s looking forward to sharing a drink, some nibbles, and most importantly, a conversation with you.
To make the most of our time together, we’d love to hear from you in advance. Please take a moment to share up to three areas you’d like to discuss with Greg via the booking link. He will be preparing a brief presentation covering points of interest, followed by an open Q&A and conversation. Enjoy a complimentary drink on arrival and some nibbles while we chat.
