A huge thank you to the organising committee of the Parents’ Association’s Back to the 90’s Night. The night was an incredible success with so many fun stories shared and an incredible $22,500 raised for the school’s retractable seating in our new development. We are incredibly grateful to Carlo, Alana, Natalie and Kate for their work in organising the night and activating sponsors. We would also like to acknowledge all sponsors from the evening and encourage you to also support them (listed below). Individual thank yous will be sent to all of these businesses.

We have recently partnered with Bendigo Bank Sandringham to support the further development of our outdoor spaces to support learning. They have generously donated $2,000 to allow the school to develop a Landscape Masterplan that will review all current outdoor spaces and identify opportunities to utilise spaces better for learning by planting, re-landscaping and the like. We are incredibly grateful for this generous contribution and will look forward to sharing a Master Plan with you when it is complete. More importantly, your children will most definitely enjoy and benefit from the opportunities to learn in and through these spaces.
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking the feedback of our families. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is sent to 35% of our families, from a randomly generate sample. If you receive the survey invitation, we strongly encourage you to complete it. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the office.
As mentioned, we have been working through the planning process for the BYOD review. We have mapped out a plan and timeline that will ensure the review is thorough and acknowledges the perspectives of all stakeholders. The review will comprise of:
By August 30
September
Mid-September / October
We are so proud of the commitment students continue to show toward this program, reducing our waste and upcycling plastic lids to be remade into other products. Last week Marley and Lewis from 1D alone had collected a huge bag of lids that would have otherwise ended up in landfill, and have now, thanks to the support of the Grade 5 students, been sorted and will be shredded and reused. Keep the donations coming in!

Last week 32 Year Five and Six students went to Mount Buller for HPS's first ever Snow Camp. We were two of the year six students who went and it was so fun. It was a three day trip which meant we had one full day of skiing (8 hours) and two half days on the slopes. It was really exciting and we went on many of the ski runs and slopes like Bourke street, Abom, the T-bar and other students that had more experience went all over the mountain with their instructors, teachers and parent volunteers. We had dinners and lunches out which were delicious and some down time at the end of every day.
It is definitely a great camp; even if your child doesn't like skiing that much and is still learning we would recommend it. They can just do the snow plough or “pizza” the whole way down some of the easier slopes. The instructors were really helpful and helped us ski all the way down some of the trickier runs. If your child is in year 5 or 6 next year I strongly suggest signing up for the 2025 Ski Camp!

Congratulations to our Boys Soccer Team who recently won their division championship, defeating Caulfield Junior College 3-1. The boys played brilliantly together and look forward to playing in the Regional Finals shortly. We wish them all the very best for what will be a challenging match.
Congratulations to Isla H who recently won gold in both the Cross Country Relay at the Victorian Interschool Snow Sports Championships. She also won gold at the Amelia McGuiness Memorial Time Trials in Falls Creek, with three outstanding Giant Slalom runs. Isla clearly has undoubted talents in snow sports and a dedication to so many disciplines that we are very proud of!
