Year 10 Camp

The recent Year Ten camp, themed around "Teamwork," was an unforgettable experience for our students. Despite facing weather that can only be described as “character-building” (cold, wet, and windy), the students displayed resilience and camaraderie throughout the camp. A highlight of the camp was the retreat liturgy and teamwork-building activity run by Nicole Dudman, where students collaborated on an artwork. This piece of art will travel with the year level into the senior school next year, where it will be proudly displayed, symbolizing the bonds formed between students and their development as powerful team players. Special thanks to Tara Cox for putting together the artwork activity. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a workshop presented by Speak & Share. This program is designed with input from mental health professionals to enhance school culture and productivity. It focuses on increasing meaningful connections and normalizing conversations around mental health in a safe, judgement-free, and inclusive environment, ultimately promoting happier and healthier students.

In addition to these enriching activities, students engaged in a variety of outdoor adventures. They braved bushwalking, navigated the high-ropes course, soared down the flying fox, tried their hand at archery, and participated in numerous teambuilding exercises. Evenings were filled with fun as students enjoyed a board games night and tested their knowledge during a lively trivia night. These activities not only tested their physical abilities but also reinforced the importance of teamwork and mutual support.

The Year Ten camp was a lively journey of growth, resilience, and unity, leaving our students with lasting memories, a stronger sense of community, and a new appreciation for dry socks.

My deepest thanks to the staff that attended, Nicole Buccilli, Nicole Dudman, Julia Leslie, Edson Letendre, Peter Preston, Robyn Scouller, Daniel Sheahan, Melinda Stephan, and Rahne Widarsito. A huge thanks to the students of year ten. The growth that the staff and I have seen in this cohort this year has been wonderful to watch. Your families should be very proud of you, as I am. Keep going!

Year 11 Careers Expo

The year 11 students visited the Baw Baw Job Skills Expo on Tuesday of this week. Students were encouraged to preview the list of exhibitors before the day to ensure they made the most of their time onsite. They had the opportunity to attend a number of different seminars including: Emerging Industries, Popular Trades, Health Sector and Food and Fibre, as well as participate in workshops and speak directly with industry representatives.

Winter Clothes Donation

Why we did it?

Young Vinnie’s Volunteers 2024.

As the Year 12 Youth Ministry Class, many of us decided to take on the role of being volunteers for the Young Vinnies. This role involves us raising awareness and funds for the Vinnies. Our team began a fundraising project and creating a sleepout experience helps provide essential resources for those in need, and allows us experience what it is truly like to be homeless, with our community's most vulnerable members. It raises awareness about homelessness and the struggles many people face during winter, fostering an understanding among youth. This was also done by our team by our Winter Appeal advertisement, where students and teachers donated coats or other spare clothes to our appeal. Engaging in fundraising shows the compassion, social responsibility, and the impact of collective effort. The funds raised supported our  St.Vinnies’ community and will assist in providing food, shelter, and other critical services for the homeless in our community, making a difference in their lives. Involving our Youth Ministry in these efforts empowers them to take action and be advocates for social justice, and being part of community engagement.

How we organised it?

We organised the bake sale with help from students and staff from around the college. Students made posters both on the bake sale and informing students about the seriousness of homelessness. Posters had data and real statistics showing what percent of people are homeless in our communities.

Our guest visitor.

We were also lucky to have Patsy, the president of the Corner Inlet Branch of St Vinnies, come in to speak to us and support our sale.

How much we raised

After finishing with a sold-out batch of sweet treats the year 12 Youth ministry team and Mrs Roscoe have raised a total of 314 dollars.

Thank you!

We would like to thank everyone who donated to this cause, we have raised a significant amount of money because of your generosity. We would also like to thank Patsy for being so welcoming and teaching us the importance of Vinnies.
