Alice @ Wonderland Performance Performance

For the past two terms the talented students of Mt A have embarked on a journey through the much-loved tale of Alice in Wonderland. However, this tale was not quite the one we all know, with three Alices lost in a strange Wonderland and modern elements woven throughout to engage and connect to a contemporary audience.
From auditions to rehearsals, every step of the production process showcased their dedication and passion for the arts. Students not only memorised lines but also delved deep into their characters, embodying the curious Alice, the enigmatic Cheshire Cats, the formidable Queen of Hearts, and a host of other beloved personalities from Wonderland. Student director, Emily Gardiner, worked with the students weekly to develop these characters, building confidence in the student’s abilities along the way.
The stage design and costumes were nothing short of magical, transporting audiences directly into Wonderland. The sets designed and made by the Art Club under the direction of Eve Longley transformed our school hall into a world of oversized mushrooms, tea parties, and mysterious forests. Each detail, from the Mad Hatter's wacky hat to the Queen's deck of cards, was meticulously crafted, thanks to the collaborative efforts of students from the Tinker Club mentored by the very talented Ms Hawkins. Technical elements incorporated in the show, led by Ms Penny Evans transported the audience into the crazy and funky world of wonderland. Marianne Orcullo, Jacinta Fedrick and Amelie Kerr took on the role of technical crew with heaps of creative energy and the results are clear.
Alice not only showcased the student’s artistic talents but also fostered friendships, confidence, and a love for the performing arts. We eagerly anticipate future productions and the continued growth of our students as they explore new realms of creativity and expression.
