Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome Back

Welcome back to Term Three! We hope you had a restful break and are ready for an exciting and busy term ahead. We have many wonderful events lined up, including Parent/Teacher interviews, a whole school movie day, district basketball, cricket and tennis, school photos, and our highly anticipated whole school Science expo. We look forward to another term of learning and fun!

Building Works

We would like to inform you that we are currently undertaking building works at our school. During our routine building inspections, mould was noticed on the building outside the corridor entrance near Room 8. We had the area inspected by Make Safe, who determined that the mould was caused by faulty flashing on the roof.

During the holidays, a team came in and removed the affected areas. The team will return soon to complete the necessary repairs to the building. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone.

Changes to Grade 1/2 Timetable

We have recently updated our timetable to ensure all students participate in the InitiaLit program, regardless of their current reading levels. Previously, some students, particularly those in the MiniLit early intervention program, were receiving separate instruction. Now, these students will attend InitiaLit sessions in the morning and MiniLit in the afternoon. This change aims to help students apply what they learn in MiniLit to their InitiaLit classes, ultimately enhancing their learning experience and ensuring a smoother transition once they complete the MiniLit program.

Why the Change?

The MiniLit program is a short-term intervention (100 Lessons)designed to run alongside the InitiaLit program. This parallel structure allows students to immediately apply the skills they learn in MiniLit during their InitiaLit sessions. Creating these connections enhances the overall effectiveness of both programs.

Preventing Students from Falling Behind

Our primary goal is to prevent students from lagging in InitiaLit and to ensure a smoother transition once they complete MiniLit. This approach helps reduce the stress and anxiety associated with moving between different learning environments and ensures that the transition back to InitiaLit is less daunting.

Minimising Disruption to Other Subjects

We understand the importance of a well-rounded education. To minimise the time students miss in other subjects, we are making careful adjustments to classroom scheduling. This way, we can ensure that students continue to receive comprehensive instruction in all areas while benefiting from targeted support in reading.

A Commitment to Individual Learning Needs

We recognise that every child has unique learning needs. Our commitment is to provide tailored support to help each student succeed.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we strive to support every student's educational journey.

OSH Club Survey

We're exploring the possibility of offering OSH Club on curriculum days next year, but we need your input to make an informed decision. Please take a moment to complete our short survey to help us gauge interest and viability. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of our school community. Thank you for your participation! https://forms.gle/qPFzcRAG3iisi4dQ9
