Strengthening prevention and responses to child sexual exploitation, harmful sexual behaviours and dating violence for children and young people.
Power to Kids in Schools is a professional learning program that upskills educators and schools to strengthen prevention and responses to child sexual exploitation, harmful sexual behaviours and dating violence. Power to Kids supports educators with the knowledge and practical skills to hold 'brave conversations' around sexual health and safety. The program features three evidence-based strategies including a school-wide education approach, early identification and intervention, and connecting with appropriate services to disrupt harm.
Caroline, Siobhan and myself have attended three days of training through the Mary MacKillop Institute which offered eye opening statistics around child safety and exploitation. We as a staff at Holy Name have begun completing modules of learning and are a pilot school in 2024.
Over the coming months, I will be sharing statistics and information which will support you to have conversations within your family regarding online activities.

What is the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data?
Schools must now complete the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) every year. It counts the number of students who receive additional adjustments or “help” at school because of a disability. The NCCD helps governments plan for the needs of students with disability.
