NEWS & ADMINISTRATION
Mrs Caroline Galea
Dear Parents,
We have had a couple of very busy weeks in our school's life. Over the past couple of weeks we have celebrated 100 days of Prep, Grandparents' Day, Story time, Year 5 visit to St. Monica's and Math competition and that is all beside the teaching and learning that occurs.
Coming up in the next two weeks we will be celebrating First Eucharist, Feast of the Assumption, Year 4 Camp, Science Week and Book Week. Yes this is a very busy term.
Please take the time to read through the newsletter and keep up with all that is happening at Holy Name.
McColl Street Crossing & Parking
As you may be aware, we have not had a regular crossing guard at the McColl Street side for most of this term. Please be careful when you are crossing. A gentle reminder that it is illegal to park on or over the yellow lines of the crossing when doing school drop off or pick up. We have had reports that people are doing this, and you need to be aware that the Council by-law officers conduct regular checks and may issue a fine.
Council have advised that we should have our regular supervisor back next week, or if not, they may try to place a temporary supervisor there.
Story Time
On Monday we had our second story time session. Our school captains read stories to the kids, we learnt magic tricks and we created our own magic hat. Our third story time session is on Wednesday 21 August @2.20pm
Please feel free to join in, just book through Leanne at the office.
**As this is our Book Week Dress Up day, we invite our story time attendees to come along in a costume that they may have worn for their Kindergarten book week or any costume from your dress up box. If preferred, they can just wear their normal casual clothes.
Grade 4 Camp
On Thursday 15th August, our Grade 4s will depart for their first school camp to Sovereign Hill. They will be staying the night and returning Friday 16th August. This is very exciting for these students who will participate in activities such as gold panning, mine tours, Aura light show and other fun and exciting demonstrations.
P&F Cadbury Chocolate Fundraiser
Thank you to the families who have taken an extra box of chocolates to sell.
We still have two spare boxes, if you would like to take one, ring or see Leanne.
All unsold chocolates and/or money need to be returned by Friday 6th September.
School Closure
On Friday 23rd August, we have a school closure day. On this day the staff will have professional development in the area of formation in Religious Education with Father Rob Galea.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Our next Parent/Teacher interviews will be held on Thursday 29th August. On this day the children will finish at 1:00 pm to allow interviews to start shortly after. The idea of these interviews is for parents to get an idea of their children's progress since the written report.
If you have not yet accessed your written report, I encourage you do so. If you are having difficulty accessing the report, please let us know.
You will be able to book an interview through the school interview site or by using the link below or the QR code below. Please note that after school care will be available from 1:00 for anyone requiring this service.

Canteen Helpers Needed
If you can spare a few hours on Fridays (or even Tuesdays) and you have a current WWC, we could really use your help in preparing the lunch orders, after morning drop off to 11am. It doesn't have to be every week; leave your details with Leanne at the office and we'll add you to the roster.
We have a Canteen Manager (Antonietta) who will show you what to do.
Unfortunately, due to safety considerations, you are not able to bring toddlers/babies with you.
