NAIDOC Celebrations

Aberfoyle Park High School recently celebrated NAIDOC Week 2024 with a vibrant and engaging event organised by our Cultural Connections group and the Student Representative Council (SRC).

The festivities included a free BBQ for all students, featuring delicious kangaroo stew made by the talented Cultural Connections team. A highlight of the day was the "Guess the Number of Indigenous Languages" competition, which sparked curiosity and learning among students about Australia's rich linguistic heritage.

Additionally, a large board invited students to share what they are "Loud and Proud" about on a handprint, fostering a sense of pride and community spirit.

The celebration also featured various garden games and music, creating a joyful and inclusive atmosphere. A special fingerprint board allowed students to place their fingerprints and sign their names, symbolising their commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

This interactive and meaningful activity emphasised the importance of every individual's identity and contribution to the school community.

Overall, the NAIDOC celebrations at Aberfoyle Park High School were a resounding success, bringing together students and staff to honour and celebrate Indigenous culture and heritage.
