SUSTAINABILITY NEWS
We have had a fabulous week, with our Year 3/4 class partaking in Citizen Science activities with Waterwatch. As you can tell by the reflections below by Georgia, Lenora and Sophie, we had a day of rich learning. I was also very proud to get the following feedback from our facilitator: “It was an absolute delight leading sessions with your students today. I found all groups to be engaged, charming and well behaved.” Well done, Year 3/4s!
On Monday the 2nd of December all the 3/4s went to CERES (an environment park in Brunswick) to learn about what we are doing to look after the environment .We were split into our classes to do different activities .The activities were going for a walk and seeing what CERES has been doing to save the environment, then there was a learning about frogs. Here they told us about frogs and not to touch them because they drink through their skin and the chemicals from your hands go into their bodies and make them unwell. Last of all, we did water experiments to tell if the water was dirty or clean. We had a great time there and there was lots to learn about. We would all recommend going to CERES. You could learn a lot and it's good for the environment!!! Unlike other shops you can bring bags, containers and bottles to fill up. Its so good for the environment.
On Monday the 2nd of December all the 3/4s went to Ceres Environmental Park where they work hard to help our world become a better place, not just for us but for everything around us as well. From the animalia kingdom (animals) to the plantae kingdom (plants) everything is becoming better, so thank you CERES.
Now let’s get back to the topic. The activities at CERES were all interesting and very educational; it was like an outdoor classroom. First up we went on a tour with Ms. Belinda. We saw the bulk packaging and Ms. Belinda explained how it helps our environment reduce packaging and waste so it does not get out into our water sources since CeCERESres is all about Merri Creek and improving its water quality and hygiene. Ms. Belinda buys from CERES grocery store all the time since she as a person wants to improve the world making it better for us to live in. You can make a difference too. Then we learnt about frogs and their life cycles. First you have eggs then the eggs hatch and turn into over tadpoles and then the tadpoles form legs equalling a froglet and finally a frog. Over to water testing Julia Cirillo was teaching us we had to do Air testing, Water Temperatures, Conductivity and Turbidity. Finally. snack time! We collected our baggage and then we went to the playground had a break and then hopped on the bus to go back to school.
On Monday the 2nd of December all of the year 3/4s went to CERES environment park. When we got there we were split into groups which were classes. My group's first activity was walking around. We learnt about the organic veggie garden about their shop and that it is all solar powered.
Have a great week everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
