As we come to the end of an incredible year, we want to take a moment to celebrate our 2024 Year 7 cohort for their outstanding achievements in their first year of secondary school. From the very beginning of the year, they have embraced every opportunity here at Western Port Secondary College and have truly made their mark. This cohort of kids have transitioned so seamlessly into secondary school life. They’ve worked hard, engaged in their learning, and taken on challenges with determination and enthusiasm. As we wrap up the term, we are incredibly proud to see them finish their final assessment tasks, showcasing all the skills and knowledge they have gained throughout the year.
We were especially proud to watch our Year 7s shine at the WPSC Awards Evening, where their achievements were recognised. A big congratulations to our 2024 Year 7 Dux awardees, Noah Doll and Milla Kerber. Your dedication to learning and excellence is truly inspiring!
To celebrate the end of term, our students participated in a special Celebration Day where they competed in ‘Minute to Win It’ games, Christmas art, sport and even a sausage sizzle. Some of our 7s also had the chance to attend a zoo excursion. It was a really nice way to finish the term with some time outside of the classroom. The past week has been filled with even more memorable moments. Our Year 7s got into the holiday spirit with Christmas cooking activities, a fun excursion to Southland Shopping Centre, and a trip to the movies to watch Moana 2.
We couldn’t be more proud of how our Year 7 students have embraced their first year of secondary school, and we can’t wait to see what they will accomplish in the years to come. Well done, Year 7 – you’ve made this year one to remember!

What a year!!!!! The last few weeks have been action pack and full of fun and celebrations. The year 8s worked hard on completing their shark tank day, there were plenty of great ideas from key rings, candles, jewelry and heat packs. Our winners were our lovely slime group who put in loads of effort in both their design and marketing.
The year 8 cohort engaged so well in this activity and there are definitely some young entrepreneurs with some great ideas!! We also got to celebrate the year in our ‘Best and Carest’, this awards afternoon was a great way to celebrate the year and was full of minute to win it games, trivia and lots of awards to recognize the amazing work from the year level.
These was even a personalized video that featured all the year 8 teachers and their favourite ES staff member Sharon. Finally we concluded the year with a trip to the zoo, this was a way to say thank you to the kids for all their hard work across the year. They had a ball doing an their ICARE Animal Scavenger Hunt.
It was a great way to finish what has been a really successful year. We would like to thank everyone for all their support across the year, and wish you all a very safe and happy holiday period.

As we approach the end of the year and the end of our student’s time in Junior school, it's time to reflect on the growth, achievements, and experiences we've shared in 2024. It's been a year full of learning, challenges, and exciting moments, and as we look back, we can celebrate all the progress we have made together.
Academic Achievements: This year, our students have demonstrated growth and academic achievement through our summative learning tasks, progressive achievement testing, our end of year exams and maths challenges. We have seen amazing results and seeing our students growing in confidence with their academics. We applaud all our students and are very proud of the growth they have made in 2024.
Personal Growth: Year 9 has been a time of self-discovery and development. Our students have grown not only as peers but as individuals. Whether it was through participation in extracurricular activities, engaging in class discussions, or taking on leadership roles, our students have developed skills that will serve them for years to come. We are proud of the humans you have developed into and look forward to further maturity and transformations.
Looking Ahead to Year 10: Year 9 has laid a strong foundation for the years to come. As we prepare for Year 10, it's important to carry on the skills you've developed, such as time management, critical thinking, and resilience. You'll be faced with new academic challenges and the opportunity to dive deeper into your chosen subjects. It’s an exciting time, and we have no doubt that all of you are ready to continue your academic journey with confidence and enthusiasm.
A Thank You: Thank you for all your hard work, positive energy, and dedication throughout the year. It has been a pleasure to watch you grow, and we look forward to seeing what you'll achieve in the future. As you leave Year 9 behind, take pride in everything you've accomplished, and carry those lessons with you into the next chapter.
Wishing you all a relaxing and well-deserved break over the holidays! Let's make 2025 even better!
Happy Holidays,
The Junior School Team
