Learning Community 3

Welcome back, everyone! A warm welcome to our new students and their families who have joined the Bunyip P.S. community this year.

We've had a fantastic start to the new school year! Our first unit of work focused on setting classroom expectations and helping students build connections with their classmates. This strong foundation has set us up for a successful and enjoyable year ahead. Year 6 students, in particular, have loved settling into their new learning space in the main building, which looks amazing after being freshly painted over the holidays.

Leadership is a key focus for our Year 6 students, and they have many opportunities to develop these skills. Some have taken on official roles such as School Captains, PBS Captains, Cultural Leaders, and House Captains, working closely with staff and students. Others will support our Prep students as Buddies, help raise funds for important causes, or demonstrate leadership in the schoolyard by assisting younger students.

In Years 4, 5, and 6, our learning is centred around fostering a positive environment and embracing acceptance of others. In Math, we've started by strengthening our addition and subtraction skills. For Reading, we revisited the roles within Literature circles and selected our group books. In Writing, we reflected on our personal goals and identified ways to improve after completing the school-wide writing task and made a start on revising descriptive language for narrative writing.

We’re excited for the year ahead and look forward to learning and growing together!
