Welcome to our first newsletter for 2025. We have many new families this year and we are looking forward to getting to know you all.
Library:
Thanks to Julie Gatti for completing the set up of our library and the team of staff and parents who helped this to happen. We are so excited that our students can again access the books and enjoy such a beautiful learning space. At different times Mrs Gatti will have books that need repairing and covering. If you are able to help out, please call in and chat to Mrs Gatti. Mrs Gatti works every second Friday, starting next Friday. At the end of last year, P&F purchased a number of storage lockers that allow students to browse picture story books. They look fantastic.
School BBQ:
It was lovely to see so many families attend the school BBQ this week. We hope you enjoyed the informal evening. It wouldn't have been possible without the P&F team that did all of the shopping and cooking.
District Swimming:
Next week, we have 11 students competing in the District Swimming Sports. Students will travel to and from the Koo Wee Rup outdoor pool with their parents. Parents are welcome to stay and help on the day. We wish our students the best day and know that they will represent our school to the best of their ability.
ROAR:
A reminder that on the 25th and 26th March, all students will be taking part in the protective behaviours program called ROAR. The program teaches children at an age appropriate level to use their voice to keep themselves safe. This program forms part of our curriculum and childsafe policy. If you have not yet consented and paid, please do so before the due date.
Mobile Phones:
Please read the mobile phone policy on-line and if you have allowed your child to have a mobile phone, please make sure they know that they are not allowed to use it at school. Once they arrive, the phone needs to be handed in to the office or their teacher. This includes smart watches, unless they have been set to school mode. This week I had to speak to a number of students about being on their phones whilst in the school grounds and taking photos of students with their phones. Adults can help to be role models. If you as the adult are on your phone when in the school grounds, can I ask that you consider both the volume of your conversation and the language that is being used.
Breakfast Club Helpers:
P&F would love to have more helpers for breakfast club on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. This involves arriving a bit before 8.30 and helping to make breakfast for students until 9am. There is a helpers sheet on the noticeboard opposite the office. Please pop your name in on any dates you are able to help for this term.
School Council Nominations:
Nominations to be on School Council close today at 4pm. We will check the nominations after 4pm and let parents know next week whether or not we will need to run a ballot. If the number of nominations equals the number of vacancies, then there will be no need for a ballot.
Teacher Availability:
If you need to speak to your child's teacher, please email to request a time. If it's a quick message, teachers can be seen at the end of the day but please be aware that on Monday and Wednesday afternoons all teachers are required to be at meetings by 3.45pm.
